Chris Pratt Talks Working Out and Giving Up Beer for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Guardians of the Galaxy

Chris Pratt attracted a great deal of attention following his physical transformation for his role as astronaut Peter Quill in 2014 movie Guardians of the Galaxy, and since then, Pratt says he is determined not to relax his gym schedule or diet regime.

“I’ve had to work very hard for the last year and a half,” Pratt told Britain’s Heat magazine. “And I have no intention of ever letting myself slide again. I never want to go back to being the fat guy.”

Pratt, 36, admits past roles didn’t help his motivation to shape up (Such as his role as Andy Dwyer in one of our all-time favorite TV series Parks and Recreation).

“I had to change my whole way of thinking,” he replied when asked if it was difficult to get in shape. “I had gotten into a frame of mind on Parks and Recreation, where I saw my character as someone who would just let himself go and party. I had become used to the idea of making a living as an actor by playing the fat friend who just makes you laugh.”

To hone his physique for the starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt quit drinking beer and hit the gym. He reluctantly posted a shirtless photo of his toned trunk on Instagram six months after embarking on the eating and exercise plan in 2013.

Six months no beer. #GOTG Kinda douchey to post this but my brother made me.
