3rd Twilight Movie Gets Director?

The second one hasn’t even finished shooting and rumors are that the folks over at Summit Entertainment have already signed up a director for the third installment of the ‘Twilight’ movies.

Amazingly, the rumored guy at the helm will be a new face to the franchise… a third director in as many movies.

The internets are swirling with the news that for “Eclipse”, Summit tapped Juan Antonio Bayona, a Spanish director known for the horror movie “The Orphanage.” He is considered a protege of fellow Spaniard Guillermo Del Toro.

If it’s true would this be a sign of darker things to come?

“Eclipse” is due in theaters in June 2010 and that’s no rumor.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Summit Entertainment is keeping an unbelievable pace in pimping out these ‘Twilight’ movies.

The next movie, which is currently shooting in Canada, is “New Moon.” Summit has slated that movie’s theatrical release for November of this year.

We guess they want to strike while the iron’s hot, huh?

We hope all of the movie’s young stars: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning can handle the break-neck pace.

By the way, the Twilight series scriptwriter, Melissa Rosenberg, will be writing the screenplay for “Eclipse.” The plot of that one will revolve around Bella’s choice: Edward or Jacob.

Stephenie Meyer has written four books in the series. So far, only three movies have been slated for the theaters.

Although Summit is protesting the announcement of Bayona is premature, we think it’s only a matter of time before the announcement is made.

Things in the Twilightverse seem to get released initially as rumors. Think about the whole Dakota Fanning casting thing…
