Amber Heard in Talks to Join ‘Aquaman’ Film

Amber Heard is reportedly in talks to play Jason Momoa’s love interest in Aquaman.

The Conan the Barbarian star signed on to play the comic book superhero in 2014, and movie executives are now reportedly speaking with Johnny Depp’s wife about the role of Mera, the queen of Atlantis.

If Heard signs on, she will appear in the Justice League film and then will reprise her role in the stand-alone Aquaman, according to TheWrap.com.

The Justice League Part One is slated for release in 2017, while Aquaman will follow in 2018.

Heard most recently appeared in biographical period drama The Danish Girl, a film which sees actor Eddie Redmayne portray real-life transgender artist Lili Elbe.

Heard learned how to dance for her role in The Danish Girl, in which she plays professional ballet star Ulla, and the actress previously revealed it was physically taxing to learn the practice. Should the star take on a role in Aquaman, she will most likely be ready to perform stunts in action sequences due to the intense training she undertook for The Danish Girl.

“I trained forever and I have two left feet,” Heard told talk show host James Corden in December 2015. “I’m the most klutzy person in the world. I have no – what do you call it? Grace. I crammed about three months of solid training in, working my way up from the floor and learning the technical aspect of ballet. I’ve got these dances down, technically perfect. I’m learning all the moves, but the last thing we get to are the hands.”
