Martin Scorsese is teaming up with Amy documentary director Asif Kapadia to bring a film developed by the late Richard Attenborough to the big screen.

The Wolf of Wall Street filmmaker will produce Silver Ghost, while Kapadia is onboard to direct the narrative feature, which will chronicle the creation of the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce.

“I’ve been captivated by the story of Silver Ghost ever since Lord Richard Attenborough came to me with the project, and I’m thrilled that we’re going to be seeing it through, Scorsese says. “It’s a project that requires a great and innovative storyteller, and that’s exactly what we have with Asif Kapadia.”

“What struck me when I read Silver Ghost was how this true story weaves together the lives of five remarkable people that changed the destiny of the Western world, and I am delighted to be working together with the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese and Anthony Haas to bring it to the screen,” Kapadia, who is the frontrunner to land a Best Documentary Academy Award for his Amy Winehouse film, adds.

Kapadia is not new to the world of historic cars and their drivers – he directed the powerful 2010 Ayrton Senna documentary Senna.

Meanwhile Scorsese has a few very exciting directorial projects on his plate. The acclaimed director is currently putting the finishing touches on historical drama Silence and he is also attached to Sinatra, a biopic about late legendary singer-and-actor Frank Sinatra.
