Chopra joins a cast that includes Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario. Comedian Hannibal Buress is also in talks for a leading role.

Johnson previously spoke about the movie, noting producers were aiming to make the film larger than life.

“The cool thing about this is we want to make a movie that’s big, fun, epic, and all the things that you want,” he said at the D23 Expo in 2015. “We want to make sure that it has edge and bada*s action and dirty jokes!”

Efron echoed his co-star’s sentiments, noting the feature will be “big, real, raw” and R-rated.

Baywatch, which is directed by Seth Gordon, will be released in 2017 and is currently in production in Savannah, Georgia.
