There are only three episodes left in this season of The Walking Dead, and with each of these episodes, we get closer to the moment we all know is coming – Negan.
With the casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan back in November, many fans have speculated that he will make his debut in the season 6 finale. Recent comments from Melissa McBride, who plays Carol, haven’t helped these rumors.
“It was so very dark,” McBride told ComicBook.com describing the Season 6 finale. “I couldn’t say anything after I had finished reading it. I felt like I had dropped into a black hole.”
Traditionally, it has been the season’s second to last episode which has shocked and awed us, but the writers may be changing it up with this season’s finale. We speculate that we will lose a series regular in this episode, and while comic book fans have an idea as to who that will be – we also think that the writers may be changing up that storyline.
Series lead Andrew Lincoln has also commented on the script stating, “I felt sick to my stomach when I read the script. It was the first day in the whole six years of working on The Walking Dead that I was late for work, because I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I was so angry and frustrated and I felt sick. And that was just after reading it.”
We know something big happens, and we know that series showrunner Scott Gimple has stated that the storyline for the series will not follow the comics, so speculate what you may. We have our theories – which I’ll post in the comment section below. We’d love to hear your theories as well!
