Jonah Hill Set to Make Directorial Debut with ‘Mid-90s’

Jonah Hill is set to make his directorial debut with a coming-of-age dramedy. The Moneyball star will step behind the camera for the first time in a film titled Mid-90s, which he also wrote.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie follows a group of teens in California who are navigating their way through high school amidst peer pressure, drugs, sex, and drinking, while making bad choices along the way.

While this is Hill’s first foray into directing, he previously co-wrote 21 Jump Street and created animated TV series Allen Gregory. However, Hill is not expected to star in the film.

Hill has many exciting projects on the go at this time, as it was recently reported he will be reuniting with his Superbad co-star Emma Stone in a TV remake of Norwegian comedy series Maniac. The story, based on the dark comedy which originally aired in Europe in 2014, revolves around a mental patient in a psychiatric ward, who believes he is living in a made-believe fantasy world.

Stone and Hill, who will portray patients at the hospital, are also producing the project with Cary Fukunaga, who serves as the director for Maniac.

In addition to more television projects, Hill has many other acting gigs in forthcoming feature films. He will next be seen starring opposite Miles Teller and Bradley Cooper in political dramedy War Dogs and he has also lent his voice to Seth Rogen’s highly anticipated animated movie Sausage Party. Both movies will reach theaters in August.
