Baywatch Movie News

Paramount has hired Jeremy Garelick (The Hangover) to rewrite the script for the big screen version of Baywatch and direct the film. The original plan back in 2004 was the film to be an action film, but Paramount now has the rights (DreamWorks owned the rights back in ’04) and plan to change the script to a broad comedy. This film would mark Garelick’s directorial debut. Paramount is hoping that the film can be turned into a franchise.

Garelick said this about the script: “Felt like the template to do a movie that was similar to Stripes and Police Academy, the comedies I loved growing up.”

The film will revolve around two lifeguard candidates trying to keep up with the pro lifeguards.

No word on if any of the original TV cast will be part of the movie.

  1. “plan to change the script to a broad comedy” It sounds like the pun is in “broad”. Now it will be a silly movie with tongues in cheek.
    Sounds like fun.
