Reese Witherspoon is interested in making a Sweet Home Alabama sequel. The 40-year-old actress has revealed she would “happily” return to the role of Melanie Carmichael in the 2002 romantic comedy about an Alabama girl who is trying to hide her past but finds re-discovers love with her childhood sweetheart.

Speaking to fans in a Facebook Live chat on Thursday the Inherent Vice star stated: “I love ‘Sweet Home Alabama’!

“We are not making a sequel that I know of, but if Disney wants to call me, I would happily make a ‘Sweet Home Alabama 2’!”

During the web Q&A, Reese continued on the theme of the favorite movies she has made in her career and admitted that she would also relish the chance to slip back into some of the costumes worn by one of her best loved characters, Legally Blonde‘s sorority girl Elle Woods.

She said: “I really loved making ‘Wild’, a movie I made a couple years ago. I also loved making ‘Legally Blonde’, because I love pink! It was really fun!

“I got to wear all the amazing costumes, and I got to work with a dog every day. I love dogs!”

Reese also disclosed that although a Sweet Alabama sequel wasn’t necessarily in the works yet, Legally Blonde 3 has come up as a potential future project.

She said: “A lot of people have asked me if we’re going to make another ‘Legally Blonde’, and we’re thinking about it.”

Legally Blonde just turned 15 and Reese celebrated by posting a picture of herself on Instagram porting the film’s iconic pink bikini with the hashtag “#LegallyBlonde15”

“I’m able to recall hundreds of important details at the drop of a hat” ???????????? #LegallyBlonde15
