Spielberg May Direct Another Crichton Adaptation

Reportedly, Steven Spielberg is currently developing a posthumously published novel by the late Michael Crichton, ‘Pirate Latitudes’. Spielberg will once again team with Screenwriter David Koepp, the duo worked together on ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘The Lost World’. As of now, Spielberg is producing the film, which is set off the coast of Jamaica in the 17th century, but he may decide to direct the film.

The plot of the film will see a daring plan to infiltrate Port Royal, one of the world’s richest and most notorious cities, and raid a Spanish galleon filled with treasure. ‘Pirate Latitudes’ and the a future Pirates of the Caribbean really shouldn’t clash, as Pirate Latitudes will be reality based and nor rely on fantasy elements.

  1. I love pirate movies. I’m really excited to hear this, and I’m glad it’s going to be reality based. I liked “Pirates of the Caribbean,” but I really love all the old pirate movies like “Against All Flags” and “The Black Swan.” They were fun and exciting. Of course, Michael Crichton’s book is probably much more serious and, thus, darker, but I’ll still be very interested to see it.
