NieR: Automata Release Date Confirmed, Special Edition Detailed

At this past weekend’s PlayStation Experience event, Square Enix took the time to announce an official (and hopefully final) release date for their upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG NieR: Automata for PlayStation 4.

The game, developed in collaboration with PlatinumGames, focuses on the story of androids 2B, 9S, and A2 as they battle machine lifeforms in an attempt to reclaim a world that’s been abandoned by mankind.

The game will launch on March 7th, 2017 for PlayStation 4. Those who fancy taking the plunge can predictably pick the game up in couple of different guises on launch day. The $189.99 ”Black Box Edition” is the top-of-the-line offering and contains the game itself along with a sleek black Collector’s Edition box, a YoRHa “2B” figurine, a hardback 64-page artbook, a steelbook case featuring artwork from Akhiko Yoshida (of Final Fantasy XIV and Bravely Default fame), a soundtrack disc containing 13 live recorded tracks, and all of the Day One Edition’s digital content.

Those that want the regular-priced choice can get the Day One Edition, which comes with reversible box art and six pieces of exclusive digital content in the form of a Grimoire Weiss Pod, Play System Pod Skin, Machine Mask Accessory, Retro Grey and Red Pod Skins, and a Cardboard Pod Skin.
