Ortega Drops Out of ‘Footloose’

Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing) will not be directing the ‘Footloose’ remake. Ortega apparently had some conflicts with Paramount over the tone and budget of the film. Ortega apparently wanted to make an elaborate musical spectacle and wanted a budget of around $30 million. Paramount wanted an “edgier drama” with less emphasis on the musical numbers and a budget of around $25 million.
