ATX Festival Announces ‘Alias’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’ Additions

Parks and Recreation

ATX Television Festival has announced a ton of new additions to their Season 6 lineup – including a reunion panel with Alias writers/producers Ken Olin, Lawrence Trilling, Sarah Caplan, Monica Breen, Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum!

ATX is also teaming up with Hotel San Jose for this year’s community screening (open to badgeholders and non-badgeholders alike) on Friday, June 9th, which will feature an outdoor screening of Parks & Recreation, live music, food and drink from Jo’s Coffee and other local vendors, plus activities inspired by the Pawnee Harvest Festival!

Several new conversations were announced including “The Anti Hero: History of an American Myth” presented by ATX Advisory Board member Glen Mazzara, which will take an in-depth look at pop culture’s revered and reviled male anti-hero, from its origin in colonial storytelling, to its well-documented presence in TV’s “golden age,” and its current impact on society.

ATX Alum Paul Scheer will host a screening and panel conversation about the independent pilot process, focusing on the intricacies and decisions behind the departure from the traditional “pitch, pilot, pick up” model.

The incomparable Marta Kauffman will return for #ATXTVs6 with fellow Okay Goodnight! producers Robbie Rowe Tollin and Hannah KS Canter for a discussion with the creative team behind the original series Grace & Frankie.

Hulu returns as this year’s presenting partner of the Badgeholder Lounge, which will celebrate the streaming service’s content library (which includes Alias and Parks & Recreation… start your binge now!), as well as additional original series to be announced at a later date.

Creator/executive producer Mara Brock Akil (Being Mary Jane, upcoming Black Lightning), and Sweet/Vicious creator Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and showrunner Amanda Lasher will be joining ATX as first-time panelists for a variety of conversations, along with returning ATX Advisory Board members David Hudgins (Shut Eye), Liz Tigelaar (Casual), Graham Yost (Sneaky Pete), Michael Rauch (Royal Pains), and Kathleen McCaffrey (HBO)!
