‘The Mortal Instruments’ Being Adapted for Film

According to reports, Unique Features and Constantin Films have hired writer Jessica Postigo (Operation checkmate) to adapt the first three novels of the four-book series ‘The Mortal Instruments’ which are written by Cassandra Clare. The series of young adult’s books, which include titles ‘City of Bones’, ‘City of Ashes’, ‘City of Glass’ and ‘City of Fallen Angels.’ The series has been on the New York Times Bestseller list since June 2009.

The series follows the story of 16 year old Clary Fray and her battles with hords of vampires, werewolves and other assorted monsters. The series has similar themes as ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’, but with a bit more angst as found in the ‘Twilight’ series. The books have a target audience of mostly teenage girls and middle-aged women and aims to draw on the appeal of the ‘Twilight’ series.
