Rise of the Tomb Raider: The Official Art Book – Great for Fans

Rise of the Tomb Raider is by far one of the best games in recent years and easily one of my all-time favorites. It only makes sense that I would browse the pages of the Rise of the Tomb Raider: The Official Art Book from Titan Books.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is easily one of the best-looking games currently available on PC. It actually looks pretty darn good on consoles too. And when it comes to the official art book, it’s nice to open the pages and begin looking at concepts and designs that would eventually lead to the characters and world that gamers now explore by playing the game.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider: The Official Art Book is a well-crafted hardcover book that also has a nice and shiny design for those who decide to remove its original sleeve. By doing that, owners will see a black book with silver text on the side and an image of Lara that’s also filled in completely by the same silver coloring.

Reading the foreword and introduction to the art book brings explanation and thought process to the creation of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Pretty much every page does that as the art from the game is accompanied by some sort of text that explains what’s being seen on that particular page.

The contents in the Rise of the Tomb Raider: The Official Art Book focus on Characters, Locations, and Weapons and Props. The character section covers Lara, Jonah, Jacob, Sofia, Ana, Konstantin, Lord Croft, Remnants, Trinity Soldiers, Corpses, Deathless Ones, and Animals. It’s really nice reading through information on particular characters to understand why they are designed in the way they are. It helps the fan better understand the creative direction for them, but also receive further insight into the thinking process of who these characters are meant to be in the game. In a way, it provides a small amount of further backstory, or information you may have forgotten about while playing.

It’s also fantastic being able to look at the art revolved around the locations in the game and reading more about the significance the designs played in bringing those worlds to life. The art book talks about the importance that players can feel the conditions Lara is experiencing while in certain locations, especially when it comes to the snow and how it begins to cover her while progressing through locations with wintry conditions. It’s just nice seeing the different pieces of art for Lara and these locations.

For me personally, I love seeing the art and concept designs for each character and the locations in Rise of the Tomb Raider. When it comes to props, I don’t really care as much even though I know it’s important to get those details right as well.

The Rise of the Tomb Raider: The Official Art Book is a great addition to any fan’s collection. For me, it’s like taking another journey through the world I so very much enjoyed exploring when playing the game. There are a lot of great designs in the book, and it includes a few pieces of art that I would love to have a full-size print of to feature on my wall.
