Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (R), Action, Adventure – In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina a police officer becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Stars Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes.

Broken Embraces (R), Drama, Thriller – A four-way tale of amour-fou, shot in the style of ’50s American film noir at its most hard-boiled with themes such as Fate, the mystery of creation, guilt, unscrupulous power, the eternal search of fathers for sons, and sons for fathers. Star Penelope Cruz and Angela Molina.

Planet 51 (PG), Adventure, Animation – The inhabitants of Planet 51 live in fear of alien invasion. Their paranoia is realized when an astronaut arrives from Earth. Befriended by a young resident, he has to avoid capture in order to recover his spaceship and try to return home. Starring voices of Dwayne “The rock” Johnson, John Cleese and Gary Oldman.

Red Cliff (R), Action, Adventure – In the final days of the Han Dynasty, Emperor Han declares war on the kingdoms of Xu in the west and East Wu in the south to unite China. Left with no other hope for survival, the kingdoms of Xu and East Wu form an unlikely alliance. Numerous battles of strength and wit ensue eventually culminating in the battle of Red Cliff. Stars Chow Yun-Fat, Tony Leung and Chang Chen.

The Blind Side (PG-13), Drama, Comedy – The true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential, eventually becoming an All-American offensive left tackle. At the same time, the Touhys’ learn some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Kathy Bates.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (PG-13), Drama, Romance – Bella Swan is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested. Stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

Until The Light Takes Us (NR), Documentary – A documentary chronicling the history, ideology and aesthetic of Norwegian black metal – a musical subculture infamous as much for a series of murders and church arsons as it is for its unique musical and visual aesthetics . Directed by Aaron Aites.
