Greengrass Leaves ‘Bourne Identity 4’

According to reports, director Paul Greengrass has quit Bourne 4 over “creative differences.” The fallout apparently stems from the following issues:

1. Greengrass was apparently upset that he was not consulted by the studio regarding the hiring of new screenwriter Josh Zetumer.

2. Universal has not been happy with Greengrass’ work on Green Zone. Greengrass apparently reshot several times and has been editing for months, expanding the budget and testing Universal’s patience.

3. Greengrass apparently “winged it” with the previous Bourne sequels, finding the story as production went along, and Universal doesn’t want to go down that road again as the tough economic climate does not leave room for error and delays.

Greengrass and Universal may still work things out, especially since star Matt Damon is loyal to Greengrass, but that things are far from smooth right now.
