Bryan Singer May Not Direct ‘X-Men: First Class’

It had been previously announced that Bryan Singer would direct ‘X-Men: First Class’, but now it looks like 20th Century Fox is actively searching for a director to step in for him. The problem is a scheduling conflict, as Warner Bros. has Singer set to direct ‘Jack the Giant Killer’. Fox wants to move forward with ‘X-Men: First Class’ even though Singer is busy. There is talk that Singer may instead direct a fourth installment of the already established X-Men series in the future.

‘Jack the Giant Killer’ is deep into pre-production, so pulling out Singer at this time is not an option. The soonest that Singer could be free to work on a big time project would be 2012, and Fox does not want to wait that long for another X-Men film. Fox is already working on a plan B, another director, as they reportedly met with at least two filmmakers last week.
