‘Mortal Kombat’ Battles In Court

It looks as if Warner Bros. will have to face Threshold Entertainment in court before they can launch their reboot of ‘Mortal Kombat’. Threshold has filed a suit against Warner Bros., and are claiming that the studio is freezing them out of the development of the film. Threshold was the original partner with Midway on the 1995 film, and in 2006 signed on to make another movie. Midway has since gone bankrupt, and Warner Bros. acquired the rights for the film, but Threshold says that the federal bankruptcy proceedings upheld the agreements it had signed with Midway and passed over to Warner Bros. Threshold is now seeking damages.
