Zachary Quinto to Play George Gershwin

According to reports, it looks as if ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Heroes’ star Zachary Quinto will play composer George Gershwin in the biopic to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Shooting could begin in April, and DreamWorks is reportedly going to supply accent and dialogue coaches for Quinto. Doug Wright (Quills) wrote the script, and Marc Platt (Wanted, Nine) will produce along with winger-pianist Michael Feinstein.

George Gershwin is one of the most popular composers in American history, and along with his brother (and lyricist) Ira, collaborated on such songs as Stairway to Paradise, Rhapsody in Blue, Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off, Somebody Loves Me, Fascinating Rhythm and Swanee. George Gershwin died at the age of 38 from a brain tumor.
