Thomas Tull and John Jashni, the producers behind ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Spider-Man’, have acquired the rights to make a film based on the BioWare game ‘Mass Effect’. They will produce the movie along with former Marvel Studios head Avi Arad and his son Ari. Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, the founders of BioWare, will executive produce, as will Casey Hudson who was executive producer for the game. Warner Bros. will distribute.
The producers are said to be in talks with Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) to script the film, which is still in very early development. The game is set in the year 2183 and centers on Commander Shepard of the SS Normandy, as he leads his team against an ancient alien race that invades the galaxy once every 50,000 years to wipe out all organic life.
