A ‘Jackie Brown’ Prequel

According to a report, a prequel to 1997’s ‘Jackie Brown’ is in the works, and although Quentin Tarrantino has given his blessing to the project, he will not be involved with it.

The film will be titled ‘The Switch’ after the 1978 Elmore Leonard novel of the same name from which it has been adapted by Daniel Schechter. Leonard’s 1982 novel ‘Rum Punch’, the sequel to ‘The Switch’, was adapted to make ‘Jackie Brown’ .

The movie revolves around the younger versions of Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara, who were secondary characters in ‘Jackie Brown’ and were played by Samuel L. Jackson and Robert DeNiro, respectively. The official synopsis of the book says that Ordell and Louis hit it off in prison, where they were both doing time for grand theft auto. Now that they’re out, they’re joining forces for one big score. The plan is to kidnap the wife of a wealthy Detroit developer and hold her for ransom. But they didn’t figure the lowlife husband wouldn’t want his lady back. So it’s time for Plan B and the opportunity to make a real killing – with the unlikely help of a beautiful, ticked-off housewife who’s hungry for a large helping of sweet revenge.
