Reese Witherspoon To Play Peggy Lee

Reese Witherspoon, who won an Academy Award in 2005 for playing June Carter in ‘Walk the Line’, is set to star in a biopic about jazz singer Peggy Lee. Witherspoon will also produce the project, which she secured the rights for from the Lee estate in 2000. Nora Ephron (When Harry Met Sally, Julie And Julia) is writing the script and will direct.

Lee was a major singer and actress in the ’40’s, composing for soundtracks and appearing in musicals like ‘The Jazz Singer’ and ‘Pete Kelly’s Blues’.
