DVD Review: Meerkat Manor

Our favorite little South African mongoose clan are back for the second season of Meerkat Manor! If you, for some reason, haven’t checked out this little gem found on the Animal Planet channel then do yourself a favor and give it a look. I guarantee you’ll find yourself quickly addicted and completely engaged in the comedic tale and goings-on of this mob of meerkats.

DVD Review: UFO Hunters

UFO Hunters is a new series on the History Channel that follows a team of UFO hunters in their quest for separating fact from fiction in various UFO sightings, contacts, and abductions over the last fifty or so years. The team is composed of the publisher and an investigator from UFO magazine, a scientific intern, an MIT mechanical engineer and researcher who serves to bring the discipline of hard science as the basis for conclusions in their investigations.

DVD Review: Ax Men

Most Americans still hold an old-time, nostalgic view of loggers. Images of burly, bearded men as tough as their ax handles donning flannel and venturing into the vast, untamed wilderness of the Pacific Northwest to chop down monolithic evergreens spring to mind. A new History Channel series simply titled Axmen aims to give Americans an up close look at lives lives and work of real northwest logging crews and immediately dispels any Paul Bunyan comparisons.

DVD Review: American Gangster

In American Gangster, seasoned veteran director Ridley Scott, who is famous for such modern epics as Blade Runner and Gladiator, tries his hand, this time, at the modern urban epic. Enlisting Hollywood heavyweights Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, Scott tells the parallel stories of honest New Jersey cop Richie Roberts (Crowe) and Harlem drug cartel Frank Lucas (Washington).
