AMY: I have to warn you. There's a move to issue the new kid a nickname.

EPHRAM: Why do I not like the direction this conversation is going?

AMY: Don't worry, it's an offensive tactic. The way I see it, at some point, as the new kid, you'll get a nickname. These labels are never kind. They're either fun or mean. Most are mean.

EPHRAM: I know. I have gym with Blackhead Davis.

NARRATOR: The first fall thaw that Andy Brown and his family ever knew passed through Everwood later that night. Taking with it, our last bit of warm autumn air. But not our warmth of spirit. That was in the people of Everwood. And in our hearts, some broken, some mending, and some, for the moment, complete.
NARRATOR: When things are working right in the universe, a loss of innocence is usually followed, in time, but an increase in humanity.

{FLASHBACK: Colin, Amy, and Bright are laying down at Buck's Rock just resting.}

NARRATOR: [cont'd.] Time is funny like that. For everything it robs us of, it grants us something. Sometimes it's a new friend, sometimes it's a better understanding of ourselves. Sometimes, it's just a perfect day.

BRIGHT: We should be heading back soon. It's getting late.

AMY: He's right, Colin. My dad will lose it if we're late for dinner again.

COLIN: Hang on a second. Let's just lie here a little longer.

AMY: We don't have all day.

COLIN: Sure, we do.

DELIA: This is Nonnie. She's visiting from New York where the *good* bagels come from.

NARRATOR: There are no certainties where dreams are concerned. Some are achieved, but just as many sputter and die. When they do, it's tempting to wonder why you ever dreamed at all.

NARRATOR: Throughout the centuries, mankind has been fascinated by the night time sky. Ancient peoples believed that the heavens were ruled by a pantheon of gods while others thought the stars were diamonds, dangling just out of reach.
