This should work regardless of whether you want to link via your signature or a post.

The proper way to link pictures is as follows, now this is assuming you've already uploaded the image to the Internet somewhere (note you can't link pictures on your computer unless it's running as a server which it more than likely is not doing).

let's assume you want to link this picture http://www.tehq.net/sm/biglol.gif which is located here: http://www.tehq.net/sm/biglol.gif

to link a picture, use:

which will show up as http://www.tehq.net/sm/biglol.gif

------------------------------------------

to link to a website use: http://www.fanbolt.com/forums

which will show up as http://www.fanbolt.com/forums

------------------------------------------

to link specific text in a link use: click this

which will show up as click this (http://www.fanbolt.com/forums)

-------------------------------------------

to use an image as a link to a site use:

which will show up as http://www.tehq.net/sm/biglol.gif (http://www.fanbolt.com/forums) <- click the picture

-------------------------------------------

also remember that if you reply to a post anyway other than using the quick reply box at the bottom of most threads, you should have access to the advanced buttons where you can just click on the various buttons to add links and pictures. Also if you just enter a website address into a post or signature or anywhere, it should automatically be turned into a link.

The main things are to remember to use
for images and
and for links

Well, most people don't check the FAQ, they just post in here, because they know someone will be able to help them, so this is fine in here :)

Hi. I had a question about the avatars. Is there absolutely no way to just use one from somewhere else? Are the ones offered the only ones available or what?

Alex

Custom avatars aren't avaliable on Fanbolt, you have to use the avatars we offer. If there's a certain picture you want used or something, you can post it, or request some avatars in Avatar Requests, under Requests :)

Question, does the picture you use have to be on a website?

Chloe

It has to be uploaded onto the internet in order to show up on the internet :)

If there's a picture you want as an avatar, I'd recommend making a photobucket account (It's free.) Then save the picture and upload it to the photobucket account. Then when you request to make an avatar out of the photo, you can just give them the link to where the photo is stored in the photobucket account.

Fanbolt doesn't allow members to use custom avatars at the moment. It will, however be avaliable to members with a certain amount of posts :)

i don't know if it's the right place to ask, if not, sorry in advance...
I've reached my 500 posts and i'm dying to put a custom avatar.. however, i can't find the option on User CP, where to but the adress of the picture or something, it keeps showing to select an avatar from the list...
Please help me! Thanks!

If you go to where you edit your avatar, and scroll down, the custom avatar option should be right under the FB avatar list :) If you're still having problems, let me know, it might be an account problem that can be fixed.
