Students in a film course at New York's Hunter College got a crash course in celebrity Tuesday when Madonna dropped in to host a 20-minute Q&A with the class, PEOPLE reports.

The class had just watched the Material Girl's new documentary, I'm Going to Tell You a Secret, which chronicles the pop star's 2004 tour. When the lights went up, the 47-year-old singer walked in.

Her appearance was part of mtvU's Stand In series, in which celebrities, politicians and businesspeople such as Bill Gates, Marilyn Manson, Shimon Peres and Kayne West have filled in for college professors.

Right. I can't really say that Madonna lecturing on the campuses of our universities would be an enriching experience for students, especially from someone who has what one would consider a less-than-stellar film career. How anyone can take seriously the nonsense that spews forth from this woman's mouth is beyond me.

Hm, yes, I would rather have a talk with Marilyn Manson as well and I can't say I would take her serious...and neither I realize why a college class would watch a documentary about her...but I suppose the class had fun...

I'm sure a woman of her experience has more to say than meets the eye? I mean fair enough you might find yourself debating with yourself whether to take anything she has to say seriously because she isn't that well known for excellence in films, but what's more enlightening and insightful than a look into another person's experience and perspectives? Well some of her past music clips have been movie length ;) and I am sure she's been in enough to have an idea of camera angles and maybe special effects?...

And I know this probably sounds weird, but I'd probably sleep through all of Gates's lectures. He's an interesting man I am sure- but somehow I don't think I'd be able to keep up with a guy like him... Now maybe Kanye West... He'd be someone I'd be sitting up straight for, I hear he's made of some pretty eye and ear opening stuff...

Hmmm, I really don't think I'd learn a lot from Madonna... maybe how to pull off the pointy bra look, but besides that... I think that'd be a waste of time.

Aww.. See Noah look what ya did? :(

I bet there is alot she could teach... I will admit I'm not a huge Madonna fan, but she's kinda umm.. *sorry Madonna* old... Older.. She has experience and has been working in the industry for a while... she's like a history resource, once you filter the "nonsense" of course... I bet there are quite a few things she could tell you about film history and how it compares to todays works...
