I hope that isn't true considering what has just surfaced in the last few hours. Perhaps they thought this was the best time to go public with the news, since we're all going to be engaged in holiday activites for Thanksgiving... Anyways, here is the exclusive story that is appearing on US Weekly's website and will be featured in the next issue.

EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey Announce Separation To Us Weekly 10pm EST

November 23, New York — A month after Us Weekly first reported on the breakup of Newlyweds Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, the couple has jointly announced an official separation. ‘After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,’ the couple tells Us in an exclusive joint statement. ‘This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.’ Us Weekly first reported the couple’s split in its October 17 issue; at that time, Lachey’s publicist issued a denial of an official separation. Just last week, Lachey partied alone with pals in Miami, on November 22, he attended the American Music Awards without his wife, one day after the New York Post reported that a porn star was peddling a seamy story about her night with Lachey (Lachey’s attorney has denied any impropriety). Tellingly, at the AMAs, Simpson’s father Joe Simpson told an Us reporter of his daughter’s ongoing media scrutiny, ‘We are Simpsons, we take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.’

The telegenic couple wed in Austin, Texas in October 2002 in front of 250 guests. ‘You don’t think it’s possible to love the man you’re looking at any more. But when you say ‘I do,’ you somehow end up loving him even more,’ Simpson told Us in October of 2004. ‘When I walked down the aisle it was like Romeo and Juliet.’ The duo became international celebrities by televising their first years of marriage on MTV’s Newlyweds. While the show was wildy successful and the duo reaped the benefits of their newfound fame — both released albums and Jessica, who earned $35 million last year, landed a starring role in 2004’s Dukes of Hazzard (in contrast, Nick’s solo debut, only a paltry 105,000 copies)— reports of trouble have dogged the relationship since the second season of Newlyweds. During the filming of Dukes of Hazzard in the fall of 2004 the couple were apart for months as Simpson stayed onset in Lousiana while Lachey continued to live in Los Angeles. ‘We knew when we got married that we both had aspirations in our professional lives,’ Lachey told Us in December 2004. ‘Some of those dreams are coming true and it means we’re not always together.’

I have to wonder if the media wasn't posting crap about Nick and Jess seperating from the MOMENT they got married if this would have happened. This is sad news, the press has been on them for months...it's finally happened :( I guess it takes hard work to make a marriage successful, specially when you're celebrities...I fell bad for both of them, I do hope they can still work things out.

Oh yeah... don't get me wrong... i mean yeah; it's sad that "young love has once again been broken up" and whole lot of yadda yadda yadda... but in the end, the only way it's really affecting me is by the repetition of the assumbly large coverage it'll probably get on television/in the newspapers.

I mentioned this in the thread about Jessica being pregnant but I'll say it here too. Not a good year for married couples with the splits of Brad/Jen, Chad/Sophia and these two. I just hope that this story isn't the "big story" on the news in coming weeks. The last thing I want to see when I turn on the TV is the speculation on why they split, whose idea was it in the first place to offically split and all that.

I enjoyed watching the Newlyweds show, it is sad I guess that they have broken up, cause they seemed to have had a lot of fun with each other.
But personally, I never saw the relationship lasting long, I know it's not nice to say .. it's hard to explain, but I think that they were too young to start with.

Lets hope they remain good friends and there isn't all this lawsuit and sueing etc.

I was certainly not their number one fan, but their show was really entertaining and Jessica brought me great laughs. I was extremely surprised when I read the news on etonline.com. I was in my history course and actually let out a loud, "Noooooooo..." The teacher got so angry, but it was worth the laughs :lol:

I don't know about the pregancy thing, I saw a bunch of magazines at the store today that had that on the cover... and no news of the break up on those. Perhaps she is pregnant, but I bet she isn't. Because if she is then they really should try harder to make it work...

I honestly agree with what one of you guys said earlier about people in hollywood shouldn't get married. I think that when you're in the spotlight like that, actors/actress especially, it's hard to keep things together, not only because of the press, but also the business. I mean if you have a new love interest every other month in a movie, and you happen to have good chemistry with that person, a lot of actors read more into that and think that it means they should be with them instead. Everyone will have chemistry with more than one person, but that doesn't mean you should be with all of them. I think it's hard for a lot of celebrities to draw the line between that and real life. I mean I could tell you right now I would have a crapload of chemistry with Viggo Mortensen, but I would never in a million years leave my Noah for him. :)

On the celebrity dating note, if Reese and Ryan ever split I will cry like a baby! lol :) I really hope they're one of the couples that make it. They both seem down-to-earth and level headed...

Pretty sad...but in all honesty, Jessica kinda' bugs me - and was kinda' always wonderin' when Nick would can her. Yah, Im not a fan of him musically, but he is pretty sexy :tongue:

Too bad for the couple in general tho, break ups suck...especially since the whole world has to know about it, in their case!!! :(
