The medication was prescribed to the Irish actor after a back injury, publicist Danica Smith said in a written statement. The statement said Farrell checked himself into a treatment center, which was not identified.

"No other comments to be made at this time," the statement also said.

Well, whatever is going on, we all wish him a speedy recovery!

How come celebrities always get addicted to prescription drugs? Surely Colin Farrell, resident bad boy of Hollywood, tried some of the other types of drugs available out there?

Because Prescription drugs give the same ill effect of cocaine and it is more legal like..instead of being "made" from somebody..like illegal drugs are.

that is what i think...

In all honesty I think it's Hollywood talk for being addicted to something heavier, but they can't say that because that would totally kill their careers.

actually vicodin(prescription painkillers, which could be what colin got addictted too)...has opiods....which cocaine, heroine do as well. it's the same effect.

i know somebody got hooked on them after getting there wisdom teeth pulled.

i dont think it'll ruin there careers....nicole richie admitted to her heroin. Kate hudson admits she has smoked weed. unless it was some teenager like lindsay lohan then yeah, cause young kids still look up to her. nobody looks up to colin....

nobody looks up to colin..

Anyways, wasn't trying to make it seem like I thought you can't get addicted to prescription drugs, just that I thought these pr-people used it as an euphemism.

This news is not surprising...being the bad boy that he is! I hope he slows down or else all the drinking, smoking and drugs is gonna catch up with him and bring him to his grave.

Yeh, I'm not suprised either. He's sticking to the Hollywood trend of prescription pill addiction... but I do hope he gets better soon.

I'm not surprised, but I do wish him well. He is definately not the first or the last celebrity to get hooked on pain medication.
