Jane Fonda: U.S. Troops Are 'Killing Machines'

"Hanoi Jane" Fonda is claiming that ever since Vietnam, U.S. troops have been trained to commit atrocities against innocent civilians as a matter of military policy.

"Starting with the Vietnam War we began training soldiers differently," the anti-American actress says in an email to the Washington Post.

Fonda claims she learned of the policy switch in "secret meetings" she had with military psychologists "who were really worried about what was happening to our combat personnel."

One doctor, she insists, told her U.S. troops had been deliberately trained to be "killing machines."

"This began," Fonda maintained, "because the military discovered that in World War II and Korea, [U.S.] soldiers weren't killing enough."
"So they changed training procedures" to teach troops how to commit atrocities.

Still, the anti-war gadfly cautions, it's important not to blame the soldiers themselves for carrying out war crimes.

Recalling the "Winter Soldier" hearings that she and John Kerry staged in 1971, Fonda lamented: "When you put young people into an atrocity-producing situation where enemy and civilian are commingled, where the 'other side' is dehumanized, we cannot be surprised."

Anti-war vets now returning from Iraq, Fonda cautioned, should be listened to instead of being dismissed as "unpatriotic."

"We have not learned the lessons of Vietnam," she declared.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You know what, Jane? Why dont you spend a SECOND talking to an actual soldier? Why dont you learn what they go through on a daily basis? Why dont you take the time to be non-biased and realize that these are men whose lives are in jeopardy everyday.
And to quote one soldier I know personally:
"If, at the end of the day, its a choice between them going home, or me going home, I pick me."
This is why Conservatives hate people like her. She completely maligns all that our troops do, and make it seem like she is taking the moral highground. If you were so moral, Jane...maybe Vietnam Vets, wouldnt spit on you, ever think of that????
And what anti-war vets? I havent heard any. Ive just met and heard soldiers who believe in what they are doing.
And I love how she says "we didnt kill enough" in WW2. Hello! WTF? Are you on crack?
I happen to know, firsthand, exactly how our soldiers are trained for combat. And it is not to commit atrocities. That is just leftist propoganda at its worst.
Jane...if anyone didnt learn the lessons of Vietnam, its you.
She's a "famous" and I use that term loosely, actress/celebrity/politcal know-nothing. She was also married to Ted Turner, one of the richest men in America. Anyways, she's another one of the celebrities who like to use their status to try and push certain agendas on the populous.
She also happened to, during the Vietnam War, go to N. Vietnam, and malign the troops, while those same soldiers were being killed and tortured. She's an abomination.
Jane Fonda is an Academy-Awarding winning actress, writer, producer and political activist.
She was a strong vocal opponent to the Vietnam War and now to the war in Iraq citing it as breeding anti-american hatred and possible future terrorist attacks.
Ted Turner was her third husband.
That doesnt make it okay for her to malign our troops with outright lies.
As a child, I always loved Cat Ballou. Now I wont watch it, because of her. She is a disgrace. If you want to criticize, fine. But base it on facts. And she doesnt. Why else would veterans spit in her face?
Quinton wasn't saying that, he was just pointing out that just because Jon doesn't agree with her views, doesn't make her not famous :)
The way I said "famous" didn't mean I meant she wasn't famous. Obviously we're all talking about her, so she is famous enough. My point was just I didn't like her, that's all haha.
She's a "famous" and I use that term loosely
I think it was the loosely that got everyone confused :)
