CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and wounded a companion during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, spraying the fellow hunter in the face and chest with shotgun pellets.

Harry Whittington, a millionaire attorney from Austin, was in stable condition in the intensive care unit of a Corpus Christi hospital Sunday.

"He is stable and doing well. It was almost like he was spending time with me in my living room," said hospital administrator Peter Banko, who visited Whittington.

Banko said Whittington was in the intensive care unit because his condition warranted it, but he didn't elaborate. Whittington sent word through a hospital official that he would have no comment on the incident out of respect for Cheney.

Ouch! Sprayed by a shotgun? If "Resident Evil" has taught me anything, it's that a shot from a shotgun can be pretty powerful :eek:

His friend is 78 and had a heart attack even at that age that is serious. He could die. Even though Cheny had a license to hunt he did not pay the $7 for a sticker saying he could hunt quail so he was ILLEGALLY hunting quail. Ques: Why didn't Cheney have a quail dog?
Also this accident has been compared to the Burr vs. Hamilton duel of the 1700s (the last time a vice president was involved in any type of shooting)and look where it got Hamilton-his face on the $10 bill. Maybe Cheney's looking for a way to get his face on money after his extensive hiding time.

No one's even blaming Bush. In fact, you're the first one to even mention it in this thread, despite the fact that there are numerous people on this thread replying that aren't exactly fans of Dubya.

But speaking of Bush, or rather the administration; why did it take so long for this to be reported? Why is everyone still being so quiet? What if the guy dies? Would Cheney be charged with murder? Why didn't he have a license?

And it's not even out of paranoia either, because the more time that passes in which they're trying to hide it, naturally, the more one would wonder what exactly they're trying to hide.

Umm..my poor little cousin goes hunting just like Cheney does. If he didn't have the license, he'd get a ticket. The moral is just because you're "important" doesn't regulate you from the laws.

Anywho, I feel bad for the guy who got shot. Not only for being shot, but being in THAT Corpus Christi hospital. Yikes.

That hospital is a chain of "Saint Christus,Joseph etc. people" All over Texas, not the best you can go to.

Andrew, the way the story got out was because of this Corpus Christi news reporter put it on there website and then it got "leaked" then and few days later they told "The White House".
