FanBolt's New Features

We have launched three new features that we’re extremely excited about! Our members will now be able to have their journals, a highly customizable profile, and their own galleries!

Journal
Members will have to have at least 50 posts in order to have a journal. The same rules apply to the journal section as the boards, so keep that in mind. If you’re found in violation of the rules, you will no longer be able to use the journal feature.

We’re still working on customizing this section, so bare with us through some of the cosmetic changes that will be accruing.


Profile
The profile is now set up to more like a myspace type page. You will be able to have links to your journal entries, have friends, your own space to put whatever, as well as a link to your gallery.

It’s important to note with the friends feature, that you have to have them listed on your buddy list, and they too have to have you listed on their buddy list before you will show as being friends.

When you add someone to your buddy list, send them a pm to let them know that you’re requesting to be their friend.

Also, don’t go crazy with this feature. The more friends you have, the slower your page will load. Have just your good friends listed!

Note- There will be a place for you to leave comments on each other's profiles soon!



Gallery
All users can use the gallery; however members with less than 50 posts will have to have all images approved by administrators before they are posted. So you can still upload them, there will just be a slight delay in them showing up until they are approved. Images will be approved 4-5 times a day.

Photo limits-
Under 50 posts- 3 pictures a day
Over 50 posts- 8 pictures a day
Over 500 posts- 15 pictures a day
FanBolt Subscriber- Unlimited

With the exception of the FanBolt Subscribers, all user galleries are limited to 500kb.

Galleries will be cleaned out every 30 days. All images will be deleted at that time. This is something we have to do to keep the site running smoothly.

The pictures don't have to be of yourself. You can upload whatever you want for your gallery. Later I will be adding more options to let there be more categories for you to add pictures too and people will be able to make their own albums.

You can't use html in your profile now, I might enable it later though. It's for security though. You can use BB code, which will do everything you need it to for the most part. You should be able to use the css to change things though, and I will be posting more on that this weekend so you can customize things :)

Buddy lists are accessible through your user cp, just look at the links on the left side and you'll see all that fun stuff.

Emma, just curious. Will you have our signatures show in the new profiles? I think it'd be a good idea to have them appear as well.

Okay but Emma i cant seem to delete someone from my buddy list and i dont mean
as in the buddy list in your profile i mean the one in the user CP

well the one in the profile picks up mutual friendships from the users cp, so it is the same thing. What message does it give you when you try to delete someone?

Thats the thing i cant seem to delete i click on open buddy list then i like click on the little white box next to names then i click on reload and nothing happens

You have to delete the names from your buddy list and then hit save. That doesn't sound like what you're doing but I am not sure. Are you completely deleting the name?

And you can read about the bbcodes in the FAQ section, its like a basic version of html for people who don't know how to code. You can use it through the advanced post editor on all your posts as well.

Sure :)

When you go to the buddy list section of your profile, you see two columns of white boxes. The first is your buddy list, and the other is for people you want to ignore on the site.

On your buddy list, you type in the names, one per box, of who want to add. If you want to get rid of someone, just remove their name from the box and then click update buddy list. When you do this, the page should reload and your list should now be updated with the name(s) of the member(s) you've removed.

Let me know if it doesn't work for you for some reason!

Also some members with firefox may be having problems with the profile pictures, it is most likely because of Norton, or a similiar program or firewall on your computer that is blocking the image. However, if you are having this problem please post here and let me know if you're running Norton or some other program or firewall.

Signatures are now in the profiles. And I am working on getting the bbcode to work in there as well. :)

BBcode is now working in the custom profile field :) We've also added a lot of games to the arcade over the last couple of days. Here's our new games:

- bowling
- mini golf
- duck hunt
- donkey kong
- ms pacman
- black jack
- speed cards

There is a css generator coming tomorrow for those of you that are trying to figure out how to make your profile look cool :) I'm still coding it up, but it will let you customize your profile and have it looking cool :) I know some of you guys have horrible looking profiles at the moment since you're trying to figure it out :)

Thanks for the generator, I think it will be a very cool feature...

I don't know, but when I'm in the gallery and I press Gallery or Arcade, there comes a white page with the text "404, file not found". I thought I should tell you in case it's that way at everyone's computer :) I'm not sure if it's only that way in the Gallery, I haven't checked the other pages

And Bella, you don't need to know css or html to use the generator, it doesn't it for you and you copy and paste, super simple! :) It'll be finished tomorrow!

I use the grey and green scheme, New Fanbolt 2005 I guess, the others don't work for me :shrugs:
when I'm in the gallery, and I press the link "Gallery" or "Arcade" there comes a blank page which says file not found.
