The WB Network recently promoted one of its shows, "Supernatural," using a computerized insert in Rolling Stone that, when opened, played a Dave Matthews Band song from the show. The goal: to introduce new music and promote upcoming shows to fans.
Leonard Richardson, the WB's vice president of music and a University of the Pacific alumnus, discussed this and other concepts in the future of music marketing at a national conference that opened Friday at the university.
The Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association, or MEIEA, conference, which continues today, drew about 350 music industry professionals, music professors and college students working toward careers in the music business from around the country.
