A dead swan with bird flu has been found in Fife, Scotland. Scients are trying to find out wether it is the deadly strain.

^apparently not. You can only get it from touching the blood or faeces of infected dead birds

Disappearing from the news? Seriously.
We had several dead swans, a duck and also cats over here.
Cats...imagine that.

But I actually stopped getting my nerves up on this...

I dont think it is really something to get that scared about, it's only a matter of time until a vaccine has developed and it's hardly an epidemic yet- it'll probably be bad for agricultural workers but not really anyone else, just like foot and mouth or BSE

yeah, I totally agree.

but this is spread by birds which migrate to diff countries, it will be a pandemic they estimate that 50,000 people could die! I'm pretty scared about it...

all these estimations just seem a shameful way of spreading panic to me. Only 103 people have been killed by this virus and thats in 3 years or something. The virus can't be passed from human to human yet and a vaccine will be developed when it can

Yeah, adn I heard the only way you hvae the hig chances of getting it is if you are a poultry farmer.

I just hope the virus doesn't start passing from one human to another.
If it just spreads with bird contact, it will be a lot easier to contain.

I think if it ever gets to worse case scenario i.e. human to human that will be a time to worry but as of now it's just something we need to be aware of rather than worry too much about.

Surprising how quiet it's gottten in the UK about it. Jeez when foot and mouth was here it was all over the news. I guess that means no news is good news huh :)

The quarantine zone has been lifted now... so I guess there's not much threat :)

Oh Geez. The Bird Flu Fiasco is getting out of hand. A few deseased animals and all of a sudden it's an epidemic?? People and the news are overreacting, it'll blow over in a couple of months! These days, people seem to freak out over nothing. It can be transmitted from birds to humans, only humans to humans and there's only been one case therefore, I don't see what the commotion is about.
