ABC Family adds four more
April 13 2006

And to tide viewers over until that show's return, the cable network has taken a big leap forward with its original production, greenlighting four new shows that will debut between June and August.

"Our summer programming lineup focuses on storytelling," ABC Family President Paul Lee says. "We just finished our 11th consecutive quarter of growth, so we've got a great platform to launch the summer, and we're continuing our commitment to producing dramas of the highest quality."

"Fallen" stars Paul Wesley ("American Dreams," "Everwood") as an adopted teenager who's searching for his biological family. As he turns 18, though, he starts to experience some extraordinary things -- animals talking to him, for instance -- and realizes there might be more to his history than he thought. The six-hour limited series is scheduled for an August premiere.

Also this summer comes the first installment in the six hour special event FALLEN premiering, Sunday, Aug. 13 (7:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT), based on the hit book by Tom Sniegoski, starring Paul Wesley and Tom Skerritt. Over the course of the special event, FALLEN tells the story of a recently adopted teenage orphan, Aaron, and his search for his identity. On Aaron’s 18th birthday he begins to experience strange phenomena—animals talking to him, terrifyingly real nightmares—and begins to realize that he may have a destiny greater than he ever imagined. FALLEN is executive produced by Sara Cooper, Mikael Salomon, Jay Saunders and Peter Donaldson, and also stars Fernanda Andrade, Alex Ferris, Chelah Horsdal, Lisa Lackey, Russell Porter and Rick Worthy.

Starring Paul Wesley (“Everwood”) and Tom Skerritt (“Desperation,” “Picket Fences”), FALLEN, ABC Family's two-hour original movie, premieres Sunday, July 23 (8:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET/PT). This movie serves as the first installment of a special event with four additional hours slated for 2007.

It has been said that angels walk among us... That they guide us... It could be the banker… The girl next door… the cop on the street… As the war wages between good and evil… There is a temptress that could destroy everything we believe in… But there is a boy, whose future is not his own… His destiny has been rewritten… This is his story…

Based on the series of hit books called “The Fallen” by Tom Sniegoski, FALLEN chronicles the phenomenal journey of an 18-year-old, who struggles to come to terms with his newly discovered identity as he is drawn into a world where angels -- good and evil -- walk among us. This story delves into the mythology of the fallen angels and their offspring, who are looking for the chosen one to come redeem them and allow them back into Heaven.

Orphaned at birth, all Aaron Corbett ever wanted was a normal life. But just as he was beginning to settle in with his adoptive family, a higher power steps in and changes his entire existence.

On the eve of his 18th birthday, Aaron experiences some disturbing nightmares. Then, the day’s events slowly reveal to him that he now possesses some unusual talents. As he plays with his dog, Gabriel, he discovers that he can communicate with him. In a scuffle with pals at school, he freezes time. Then, in a desperate attempt to understand what is happening to him, Aaron seeks guidance from his longtime psychologist, to whom he begins to speak in multiple languages.

But it is not until he is approached by two strangers that it becomes very clear to him that his fate is greater than he ever imagined. Destined to be the liaison between angels, mortals and the powers both good and evil, Aaron must fight for his own survival and to protect those he loves.

FALLEN is executive produced by Sara B. Cooper, Mikael Salomon, Jay Sanders and Peter Donaldson, and also stars Fernanda Andrade, Alex Ferris, Chelah Horsdal, Lisa Lackey, Russell Porter and Rick Worthy.

Fraz are you able to edit your first post to reflect the premiere date being changed to July 23?

I wish they would have aired the entire miniseries within a short period of time instead of waiting until next summer. Hopefully people won't forget about it between now and then.

Yeah, Paul changed his last name. :) I think he started using Wesley sometime last year? I first noticed on American Dreams.
