Connie Britton portrays Tami Taylor, wife of Dillon High’s head football coach Eric Taylor, in the NBC television drama “Friday Night Lights.” She originated the role of the coach’s wife in the feature film, opposite Billy Bob Thornton, and directed by Peter Berg.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Britton moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of seven with her family, including her fraternal twin sister. She went on to attend Dartmouth College, where she majored in Asian studies and spent a term in Beijing, China. Upon graduation, she moved to New York, where she spent two years at the Neighborhood Playhouse studying with Sanford Meisner and an additional two years performing in regional theater and Off-Broadway productions. She moved to Los Angeles after the success of the feature film “The Brothers McMullen.”

Britton received accolades for her starring roles in Ed Burns’ acclaimed independent films “The Brothers McMullen” and “No Looking Back.” In the former, she captivated moviegoers with her portrayal of Molly, the luminous wife of a cheating husband. This popular low-budget film went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. After nearly canceling her audition with director Ed Burns, she reconsidered and her last meeting of the day turned into the role that would launch her career.

Britton starred in “Lost at Home” opposite Mitch Rouse and Gregory Hines. Her other television credits include “The Fighting Fitzgeralds” opposite Brian Dennehy, a recurring role in the highly-acclaimed NBC drama “The West Wing,” and a starring role in the award-winning comedy “Spin City” opposite Michael J. Fox. She is currently appearing in a recurring role on the popular television drama, “24.”

Britton recently finished working on “The Last Winter,” opposite Ron Perlman and “The Lather Effect,” directed by Sarah Kelly. Her feature credits also include Edward Burns’ independent film “Looking for Kitty.”

In her free time, Britton, who resides in both New York and Los Angeles, enjoys hiking and yoga. Britton is also currently finalizing a documentary, which she produced and directed, on the orphans of Ethiopia. Her Birthday is March 6.

These two crack me up...her and the coach play a great married couple.

The team party BBQ at the coach house episode. When she was under the table and told him she needed a few more minutes under the table before she could get back up and give him a coach wife smile...... Been there!!!

They play them perfect.

I love Tammi as the guidance counselor....her mouth drops open on a weekly basis with some of these kids problems.

Heck my mouth drops open because these problems are not just shock value for the show these are problems kids have.

The girl wanting her football player wanting a 3 way with the rally girls. OMG

Oh when Tammy said to her husband about having to have that relationship with their daughter Julie and it is her right as a mother.

I felt her I felt everything she was saying.

Her performance is just outstanding week after week.

How great was it when her husband said I need to speak to the guidance counselor. Then he didnt like what she said and then Now I want to speak to my wife...LOL Followed by Is there anyone else I can talk to.

That was a priceless scene.

I loved that scene you mentioned Fraz. And their scenes together keep getting better and better. The scene from Mud Bowl with the two of them in the cow field. And gosh how I loved Tami's speech at the roast.

This show needs to get a second season because Connie Britton would be wonderful and hysterical playing a pregnant lady.

I love Tami Taylor.

She's such an excellent character, and she seems very real to me. No matter who she is having scenes with, she has this charisma that I adore. I love her interactions with the students, and her scenes with Coach Taylor are fantastic.

The guidence counselor/friend/wife scene was awesome!

Poor Tammy I dont like how they have her crying in silence. That is not the Tammy Taylor of Season one. Tammy woulda told him how she feels. That it sucks he is going back and she is not okay but he has to do what he has to do and she will work thru her issues. Not the husband leaving the house and her muffling her cries.
It is so out of character for Tammy she is a fighter.
