Dr. Abigail 'Abby' Lockhart/Maura Tierney Appreciation Thread

I love Abby and how her character grew throughout the seasons. I also love all the effort she put into becoming a doctor, being a nurse at the same time. I think she's an example of perseverance and success.

Her love life was always kind of complicated, and her relationship with her mother is terrible, but I still like seeing both of them together because even though they've been through a lot we can see that they love eachother.

She's funny even though she doesn't try to be.

I think she's finally a little happy now;
She used to have too many problems taking care of her mother and brother, and then the whole Carter relationship was so complicated.
I felt so bad for her when he sent her that letter and everyone read it;
But now she's slowly letting go of that armor she uses to protect herself.

Abby is probably one of the most deep characters in ER...
All her struggle through life: first with her mother, then her brother, Richard, all the failing relationships...She had a tough life and that made her very mature.
I'm glad that she finally seems really happy. She deserves the best.

I so agree! I'm a diehard carby fan! But as long as abby is happy (habby, ha-ha).. and Luby II is cute! And I'm kinda angry at carter actually, how could you choose kem over abby???

I was specially mad when Carter was going to ask Abby to marry him, but then he saw her smoking or heard about her drinking again (I don't remember if it was smoking or drinking, it's been awhile since I've seen the episode, but it was something he dissaproved) and then he gave up on marrying her just because of that...
I didn't like that side of his...I know he wanted the best for her health and all, but I don't think someone who really loved another one would give up marrying the other one just because of that. They would try to help as much as possible.

I think, like Abby said, they werent ready for it YET... he asked her if she thinks people can change... and abby said: i dont think people can really change... something like that... but indeed: that drinking-stuff was really annoying... I mean... if Carter would propose I really think Abby was gonna be OK.. and she wouldnt ruin it with drinking... I was just angry he gave up on her!

His attitude to me said that he wasn't willing to put any effort in helping her. He gave up just like that. That's why I think he didn't love her that much. Or maybe he did but he wasn't mature at the time to realise that.

yeah, he changed A LOT in Africa... I was so pissed off when I saw Now What -> 1001... I couldnt believe that he really thought that Abby forgive him just like that.. And finally she was willing to give him a second chance he took off again... I really wanted him to stay in Chicago.. It was soo sad: 'I cant keep doing this!'

She surely is going to be a great mother, because she's been through a lot with hers, and she always had to take care of her brother, so she kind of has some experience in that area :)

I saw her yesterday in 11.2 Damaged... That episode was so good and sad at the same time: She was awesome with that damaged girl... but when she tried to save that boy and asked the nurses for help.. so sad.. she was really helpless!

But it's way too expensive over here so I have to wait until I make my own money and become rich :lol:

I need to say how greatly Maura acted on Bloodline. God, she was perfect. All the crying, the sadness, it was SO real. Her acting couldn't have gotten any better than this. Congrats to her :ah:

Their baby is so cute. I've seen the "Graduation Day" promo and I noticed that Joe will have to go through a surgery. I hope he makes it! Luka and Abby deserve to have a healthy baby!
