This is the central idea of "Heroes," the high-concept drama series premiering on NBC tonight at 9:00 PM.
In Japan, a lowly office worker can teleport at will. In New York, a struggling artist
can paint the future. In Los Angeles, a discontented beat cop can hear the others' thoughts. Elsewhere, ahigh school cheerleader discovers she's unbreakable and a single mom realizes she has an alter ego.
"Heroes" chronicles these people's lives and, whose destiny just might be saving humankind. Writer and Executive Producer, Tim Kring, previously created "Crossing Jordan" before penning the hour and a half pilot of "Heroes." "When you watch 'Heroes,'" Kring says, "something will happen each week. It's almost like the deal we made with the audience. They tune in and we give them what they want."
Here's a quick guide to the uniquely talented characters debuting on the series tonight:
CLAIRE BENNET -- Seventeen years old, a high school cheerleader from Odessa, Texas. Her typical teenage life has taken a left turn. She's shoved a steel rod into her neck.She's taken an eighty-foot swan dive into the dirt.
