Aww yeah s1 was a great season not only for DJo but for the show in general. I always love s1 of any show though...but with DC they had filmed all of s1 before the audience saw it so that makes it extra special, to me at least. I haven't seen "Boyfriend" in so long...makes me wish I had s1 on DVD. :lol:

I'm not getting into triangles and whatever it was. It was more like a square than a triangle actually. But I'm not getting into that now. What Joey and Dawson had was real, it was pure. Maybe it's true what Dawson said in the finale, they were soulmates, they were something deeper than lovers or whatever he said.. I believe that, the connection they had was increable.

Yeah, I get the point Dawson (or should I say the finale showwriters) was trying to make about the soulmates thing. But by that point on my first viewing of the finale, I was so stunned by the fact that Joey was clearly gonna choose Pacey that I gave up caring what the writers would write in for D/J to say to each other. In fact, I found the whole soulmates speech - no matter how much I do think they're soulmates - very artificial, forced and way over-the-top. You could totally tell it was the finale, it was like 'just throw in a big speech for Dawson to wrap up the D/J lovers issue deal'.

It's funny how I'm still not over it yet!!! But goes to show I am a committed shipper

I've always loved the speech that Dawson gave, because for me it completely redeemed him after what the writers did to him in Season 3. But I understand why people wouldn't like it.

It really wasn't a triangle, to me, it was more of a moving away from each other only to come back together since it didn't always exist, it really only had a huge role in the show 2 out of 6 seasons. I loved that speech though even if I hated the supposed idea that they were soulmate friends or whatever though I don't take it as that. It's more like whatever happens its going to be us and what we have goes beyond labels.

A lot of people say strangely enough that DC S1 and 2 were just a build-up to 3, but how can that be when the relationships underwent drastic changes?
For example there was no way I thought Pacey could ever love someone more than he loved Andie. He ended S2 aching for her to come back. And she swore it would be him and her forever. And JD had broke up (again) but the change in direction of their relationship in S3 was just ridiculous, I mean the way they were distanced from each other you would never had thought they were ever in a relationship. It's what I like to call 'bad writing'

I agree with you 4Brathan&Brucas, as much as I love S3, the first two definitely weren't building up to it. You could still tell it was the same show, but it did change quite a bit. With Pacey/Andie, I could believe that he could love someone else more, because of her cheating on him, but it was the actual cheating that I couldn't believe.
The direction that D/J took was sad, though. I still love some of their moments, like at the end of the first two episodes. It reminded me a bit of S1, the way Joey wanted to be with him, but he pulled away.

I honestly barely remember s3, all I know is that it was so foreign from what I had seen before. They villianized Dawson for no reason at all which I hated. Andie cheated couldn't have happened in a mental institution, they have strict supervision in places like that so I just hated that they did that. They could've broken them up in a better way. The direction of DJo made more sense. I mean Joey and Jen had messed with his head so much in s2 that I couldn't blame the guy for not wanting to try to have a relationship with either of them again and to try something new, he was a teenage guy still no matter how mature.

I hated the way they changed Dawson, too. He was never really the same after S2, partly because of the writing and also because his innocence was gone after the way people treated him, IMO. That's true about Andie, I never thought of that ;)
I agree about D/J's direction, and people do forget that they're only 16/17 (probably because the actors are in their twenties :lol:), they're going to make mistakes.

All in all the only thing that dissapoints me about DJo's journey is s6. They handled them poorly in that season and once again didn't give them a chance to really be together as adults. And the finale...you know how I feel on that. :lol:

It really is. I think it's the easiest one, but also in a way the hardest, because you have to believe that the character would cheat. Dawson never cheated IMO, even if he was unfair on Natasha and Joey. What Andie did seemed completely OOC for her, even if she wasn't herself at the time.

I love Swan Song, I thought it was a very beautiful moment for them and then they had to ruin that with the opening of s6. I didn't even believe DJo wouldn't talk all summer and date other people after that, it was insane. Even James and Katie thought so.

One of my favourite scenes of the Dawson/Joey saga is going to sound completely strage, but its when Dawson tells Joey to go..because it shows that he has grown alot and all of the madness that ensured in the episodes before with the boat races, it just shows that Dawson's has to let her go - he had to let her go to see if she would come back to him and essentially she did, because like he or she said (I foget, I think it was Joey) they are soulmates.


Dawson: (to Joey) You want him. You want him like I want you. You love him, like I love you. The only difference is he loves you back, the same way... and you deserve that, OK? And I'm not gonna be the one who stands in the way of you getting that... You're free, you can do whatever you want.
Dawson: Just go.
Joey: But Dawson...
Dawson: Joey, go. I'm telling you, before I take it all back alright, just go... go!

I actually liked that moment too because he let go of the one person he loved the most in the world. I've only seen that scene once but I still remember the power and emotion of it. And my heart completely breaks every time I think of it. I think it broke her heart too to leave him like that but she had to find out what this other pull she had was about. Where it'd take her. It was all part of hte journey, if you ask me. I'll never believe DJo weren't supposed to end up together romantically, nothing can convince me of that and that scene actually is one reason I believe that.

Summary: Dawson and Joey have hurt each other deeply over the course of the show in a way they can't ever seem to get over but still there's this pull that keeps them in each other's lives. Something keeps them from completely shutting the other out, their hearts hurting but always open. Even if for a while they close, it always ends back up to them. They fight, wound, and scar each other yet their connection, their bond, their friendship, their love is never severed. That's what this video encompasses, at the core they are best friends, but within that there's always something more.
