As you may or may not know, RENT has been a Broadway hit for 12 years, having opened on April 29, 1996. Come June 1, 2008 we will be saying "Goodbye Love" to the first rock opera of its kind and truly an inspiring story about love, life, and the struggle of AIDS. The message of the show combined with its wondeful score and cast of characters, struck a chord in audiences and made the show an instant hit. Media coverage of the show was increased tremendously by the untimely death of the show's creator, Jonathan Larson, who died of an aortic aneurism shortly after RENT's final dress rehearsal.

Jesse Martin does an amazing vocal. I think the reason that makes it so sad is that the first Cover You is so upbeat, they are just falling in love and than he loses Angel..

oh yeah.. 'Cover you Reprise' is SO sad. Such an amazing song. I was totally tearing up both times we saw it in NYC...

I can't decide which song is my favourite. I really like 'Without You', 'Seasons of Love','Out Tonight', 'One song Glory', 'Another Day', 'Light My Candle'... man, there's so many! :lol:

Me and my friend Jay are making lyric books and we printed a bunch of pics of all the original broadway cast & current cast & past casts and put them in this book with all the lyrics to the entire musical plus a detailed synopsis. I am finishing them up tonight with him.
We all got named characters and I got Maureen! squeee*

He got like all of this stuff and these awesome pictures and CDs and the movie we all got extra copies.. he goes all out. Plus, he made a lyric booklet with the story and all the lyrics. Then stuff for the road trip... water, snacks, etc..

Okay first of all I just stepped in the door. RENT was more than AMAZING!!
&& I met both DECLAN BENNETT and HARLEY JAY.. the amazing amazing actors who played Roger and Mark!!! I took a picture with them and everyone and I got a hug from Declan and he has the effing hottest english accent.. I want to marry him and Harley was HOT and he squeezed my hand!!! I am on effing cloud nine right now.. I have to scan the pic because its with a Polaroid.. I donated money to the AIDS charity and got to meet them. Mimi was Tamrya Gray.. she rocked my world and I sense serious connection between her and Declan!!

yes declans accent is so hott!!! and he has great chemistry with all the ladies, we saw that at the bar and when he was backstage so it wasn't just with her.

we never got to meet harley but he winked at us from stage which was kinda cool :D

That is sooo awesome! I've never had an awesome stage door experience like that. I've only s/d'ed at Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Sweeney Todd and the crowds were so big I couldn't meet anyone. But that's so awesome for you! What a great story!

I've heard it from three seperate Renthead friends of mine who subscribe to local theatre news. I know they'll be in Pittsburgh in April 2009 sometime, but beyond that I don't know. I'll see if I can dig up some official info!

Lea's an absolutely amazing, internationally famous performer. She's from the Philippines and apparently when she goes home they have festivals in her honor! You can find a lot of her on youtube, but this is probably my favorite performance of hers:

It was 11-12 years ago in the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miz in which she played Eponine. When I saw the show last year, since she's now an adult, she was playing Fantine and I honestly can't decide which one I think she plays better.
