THIS THREAD IS UPDATED FREQUENTLY SO CHECK BACK OFTEN FOR NEW INFO

If you do not know this Wildfire has not been renewed for another season and there are articles saying that it is not coming back, including TVGuide. This is not a Rumor. Please participate in this. To be successful or even get noticed we need a huge response. I have contacted Amy Maloney ABC Family (818) 973–4138 about this and she has confirmed it. She said that we NEED MORE VIEWERS TO SAVE THE SHOW and that the producers have an ending for the season that is good for ending the series. That the network wants to cancel it because they are making new shows and other shows are doing better then Wildfire. She said we have a core audience but not enough. She said that the network is aware of the campaign. She said if the ratings go up we might be able to save it.

SPREADING THE WORD IS THE BEST THING WE CAN DO AT THIS POINT. Feel free to take my post and repost it any where. Post bulletins on Myspace and Facebook to spread the word.

Sending Something Symbolic To Lionsgate (Wildfire’s Production Company)
A new campaign idea is circulating over at the Genevieve Cortese board involving sending plastic horseshoes that come in a box of 6 for $8.00
http://satnspurs.com/product_info.php?products_id=360

We could order them and have them shipped straight to Lionsgate. This way it would save all of us having to go look for/order them and turn around and pay shipping so it’s affordable. I think fans would jump on the wagon and raise money. Say each person that signs the petition, agrees to send one, we could end them over 1000 plus. The sky is the limit.

SaveWildfire.com was originally going to send bales of hay but after getting more information we decided it was not the best thing to do. There is no room for the hay bales (because they are so big and heavy) at the building we are sending it to. If there is no where to put it then the shipment will just be there for a couple minutes and be sent away. So what is an alternative to hay bales you ask? Hay cubes that is! They come in 50lb bags and we currently have enough money to send out 80 bags totally 2 tons or 4,000 lbs. The hay cubes will be donated in the end to a non-for-profit horse rescue http://www.horseoutreach.org/ Nothing will go to waste. This will happen on April 21st. I am working on the exact time but I will update this post about that tomorrow. JD (another staff member at SaveWildfire.com) is going to be the only staff member there but we hope some other fans will go as well. JD also said that he would call me and have me on the phone the whole time so we are going to try and handle the situation together. Him being there and me from Chicago lol. When everything is happening I will be posting at http://www.genevievecortese.com/forum/index.php so everything might be a little jumbled that day if you are on the board reading. Join the board and discuss it with us as it goes down. On April 28th ABC Family is going to receive 50 t-shirts that say Save Wildfire on the front and www.savewildfire.com on the back. The t-shirt details are still being set up and we are hoping to provide people with a number to order individual t-shirts as well. Want to help us design the shirts? Here is a link to the thread we are discussing it in http://www.genevievecortese.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1492 As of right now t-shirts should be about $3.50 a shirt. We are still accepting donations at http://savewildfire.com/ to send another shipment of hay or something else symbolic to the show. Got any ideas? Share them with us at http://www.genevievecortese.com/forum/index.php

The Hay Horseshoes Movement

If you have been keeping up with the campaign then you are probably are aware of the fact that we have had a problem with sending hay to ABC Family, well the problem has been solved. We have found a place that boxes hay! http://lilbalefarms.com/ The hay will be ordered next week. We have already ordered 500 cast iron horseshoes. 200 will arrive April 28 and the other 300 will arrive the following week. SaveWildfire.com is still accepting donations to send more things. Every bit helps. Please visit www.SaveWildfire.com for contact information to send your thoughts on the show and to make donations. To discuss the campaign and to help us come up with new ideas please visit http://www.genevievecortese.com/forum/index.php Everyone is always welcome.

Project Leave Voice Messages

On Sunday May 18th at or after 8:00 pm central time, 9:00 pm eastern time, 6:00 pacific time, call Anne Sweeney after business hours and leave her a message about how much you love Wildfire and how you want it to continue. Please do not call this number before the date and time. We want her to come into the office Monday morning and be surprised with hundreds of messages. If too many people call before that day they could disconnect the number. Everyone is welcome to call as many times as they want to after the date and time. Tell all your friends and family members to leave her a message. It doesn’t have to be long just say “Save Wildfire” “We want to see season 5 of Wildfire” I Love Wildfire”. Anything you want, as short or as long as you want. Spread this message all over the internet but be sure to tell people not to call before the date and time. That is the most important part. The number is 818 569 7700.

Do not post on ABC Family board, if they find out the phone number will be disconnected. It will ruin the whole project. Just tell members we have a new project, they need to read about it on Wildfire's other message forums.

For those that do not know who Anne Sweeney is she is Paul Lees (ABC Family President) boss. She serves as co-chair, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney-ABC Television Group, where she is responsible for The Walt Disney Company's entertainment and news television properties globally. Ms. Sweeney also manages cable networks ABC Family and SoapNet, as well as Disney's publishing imprint, Hyperion, and the company's equity interest in Lifetime Entertainment Services and A&E Television Network.

The number has already been called to make sure it works so there is no need to test it out. Just get your phone ready on Sunday May 18th at or after 8:00 pm central time, 9:00 pm eastern time, 6:00 pacific time.

I just got off the phone with Lloyd Segan, Producer of Wildfire. He asked me more questions then I got to ask him. I didn't get to ask everything I wanted but he told me to not be a stranger so I will call again in a day or two and try to get more out of him lol

He said that they are still looking at ABC Family because they still show interest in talking to them about the show. He mentioned a couple networks but he said that they haven't done anything with them and he has to look into it further. He said that since ABC Family got new shows the promotion has been going towards them because ABC Family doesn't have that much money for promotion. One network he did mention was the CW and asked my thoughts about the networks. I told him that I thought Wildfire would be a good pair for One Tree Hill since we share so many fans. He said he didn't hear about our callathon / faxathon thing so I explained it to him. He said Anne Sweeney is one the most important person to talk to and that Kate Juergens likes the show. He said that they do not know when they will be releasing season 3 of Wildfire on dvd. I did not have time to ask about the ratings I think he was driving and talking to me. Half the conversation was him asking about me and where I live and my school ect. ect. so I ran out of time.

I have talked to the producers and they said it is a good idea to contact sponsors to help with the production cost of the show. I have picked six sponsors that I think is a good idea to contact. Four sponsors have sponsored the show in the past and the other two are new. Let the sponsors know how much you love the show and how you have seen their commercials during the show. Say you want the show to continue and hope they will continue to sponsor the show.

I have been talking with Lloyd Segan and the producers are going to start to focus on The CW so we should do the same. We need to leave ABC Family behind completely and focus our efforts on convincing The CW to pick up the show. I know that the producers have already talked to them but we can help a lot by showing how much we support the show. I am working on getting as much contact information as I can for them.

The CW Get Ready Here Come The Wildfire Fans

The Wildfire campaign is about to reinvent itself and leave behind ABC Family for The CW. After petitions, letters, emails, faxes, phone calls, apples, stuffed horses, 450 pounds of boxed hay, 500 cast iron horseshoes, 600 feet of rope, 1,000 pounds of carrots and 1,500 Wildfire postcards all to ABC Family what else can the fans possibly do to save Wildfire? Insider sources say that despite the tremendous out cry from the fans, ABC Family has no intention of even reconsidering renewing Wildfire. 5,000 pounds of straw was suppose to be delivered to ABC Family about two weeks ago. We decided for this shipment we would ask Paul Lee, President of ABC Family, to take a picture. He agreed! Even better he said he wanted everyone in the photo. We were told that they would probably take the picture on many different occasions. We feel as if we were being brushed off though. The fans agreed not to wait past June 16th for the picture to be taken. So it is being sent to The CW June 17th. It would not be as big of a deal if ABC Family just said no from the start. Instead, they kept leading us to believe that the picture would be done. So the CW better get ready, here come the Wildfire fans!

The fans feel betrayed by ABC Family, who set Wildfire aside two years ago. Have you ever seen a Wildfire advertisement? My guess is no! I never see Wildfire advertised and I am a devoted fan. Devoted fans have to search the internet every year to find out the premier date. This year when fans went searching they not only found the premier date but they had their hearts broken when they learned the show was being canceled. For those that do not know, Wildfire has been on ABC Family for four years. It is ABC Family’s highest rated show and first original series. It paved the way for them to continue to create other original series because of the success it achieved. Michael Logan from TVGuide said
It's not just the little show that could. ABC Family's Wildfire (Mondays at 8 pm/ET) is the little show that changed an entire cable network. Despite a premise that sounds sappy — troubled girl befriends horse and starts a new life — this series doesn't shy away from the hard topics (drugs, sex, suicide) and has pulled strong ratings, especially with teens and young women, since its 2005 debut. It proved that the channel could be more than just a repository for sugary repeats, and soon ABC Family was launching more original programs with edge (Kyle XY, Fallen, the new Lincoln Heights).
ABC Family made an illogical decision at the beginning of Season 4 and announced that the show would not be continuing for a 5th season. They would rather produce shows that are cheap and have unknown actors in them to save them the cost. Have you seen the new shows they have been coming up with? I for one will not be watching. The fans feel that ABC Family is disloyal and betrayed them.

The fans hope The CW will be our salvation and not only pick up Wildfire but treat it and its’ fans as we deserve. We want the show to be promoted for a change and longer seasons. Currently Wildfire averages 13 episodes a season. Wildfire will be the perfect fit for some of The CW’s current shows. Many of them share Wildfire fans. The CW better brace themselves because the Wildfire fans are coming for them.

Save a Horse and Wildfire

I have been emailing with a fan of the show and she had a great idea. She is involved with rescuing horses from being slaughtered. Since our shipments are usually forward to a farm, it would be perfect to help save a horse and then inform The CW, CBS and WBTV about our efforts. It also fits perfect with the show. Kris saved Wildfire from being killed in the first season. She stole him and was sent back to the correction facility for it. Donations are being accepted at http://savewildfire.com/index.php?=donate for this. Every bit helps and is greatly appreciated. You can see our past accomplishments by visiting http://savewildfire.com/index.php?=accomplishments

How do your donations help rescue a horse from being slaughtered? The explanation below was explained by marygran at the Alex Brown Racing Forum.

What I can tell you is that it is important to have a good network with the people in the "front lines" so to speak. These are the good folks at the various horse rescues that I work with. They are the ones who know where the auctions are and when to go. Second, I am a member of Alex Brown Racing forum - this is one way that the rescues post that they are going to the auctions and need to "bail" or "ransom" horses. The prices of horses vary, but they generally cost about $500 to bail out. It may be more depending whether or not the horse rescue (where the horse will be going once it is saved) needs additional funds for transportation costs. Then we go to action. Each rescue has a method of payment (usually paypal) but you can also charge your pledge or mail in a check. Of course, the more people who donate money, the less each person has to pay to save that horse. For example, let's say Rescue ABC says, there is this great OTTB (off the track TB) right now at Sugarcreek Auction, and we need $500 to save him. We would then donate any amount of money (no pledge is too small) until the ransom of $500 is paid.

After a horse is bailed or saved, they usually have a rescue or a private farm to go to. Usually, a rescue will step in and offer to take the horse and keep them there until they can fine a new home and adopted out. Depending on the horse's age, temperament, previous training, or any current injuries or other health issues, the rescue will rehab and/or train the horse in the hope of placing the horse in a home.

The Alex Brown Racing site http://www.alexbrownracing.com/ works to raise funds for the horse rescues; we will be working with them. You can also visit http://alexbrownracing.com/wiki/index.php/Horse_rescue to learn more about horse rescue.

You had multiple threads going, so I merged them all together into one big thread. In the future, please make any posts concerning getting Wildfire back for another season here.

Thanks! ;)
