I really need to quit my habit of supporting doomed ships, but I seriously can't help myself! I think it's the fact that I never get enough of their interactions since they're always supposed to be with other people. I wonder sometimes what would happen if a ship I liked actually became canon! Maybe I'd get bored because the writers would keep throwing the ship in my face and making them all melodramatic or too schmoopy and mushy.

It seems to me that the writers have totally set Dan and Serena up for "twu wuv" so I'm not at all certain that the writers will ever explore Dair beyond the friendship capacity, if even that. I really would settle for tons of witty banter between them as friends because I just know that it would open lotsa fans' eyes to the chemistry between Penn and Leighton! The Dair fanbase would grow and be better supported even if the writers chose never to hook them up romantically! I kinda don't want our ship to go mainstream though, dumb as that sounds. I don't know about the rest of you, but it's always fun for me when I'm part of a hardcore minority.

When I look at it now, it seems like Dan and Serena were built to be the couple of the show, much to my desperation :lol:
I'd definitely be happy with Dan/Blair as good friends, as long as they have a lot of interaction.
And it's kind of good being part of the minority. But a big part of me wants them to happen so badly.

I have to say that I initially enjoyed Dan and Serena together, but I figured I'd grow tired of them eventually because I hate that twu wuv crap that writers are always pushing down the viewers' throats. You can only break up and make up so many times before it's boring as hell and irritating so I'm glad they're apart even if it's only temporary.

Book me hated D/S from the start. That was a time where I just wished Serena would get bored with Dan and his stupid poems and dump him like in the books. I actually like Serena as a character (though I think it's a bit implausible that she's so goofy and spastic at times), but just yesterday, I found I kinda like her with Chuck, which is also another UC ship for me! I know most people will say "They're steps!" but I really don't care because that means they're not at all blood-related, and it was cute that he helped her out with all the Georgie drama!

Anyway, I think Dan/Serena aren't the worst pairing ever, but this whole season has made me think "been there, done that" with them already, and I really want the writers to explore completely new couples!

I don't exactly like Serena. At first she was ok, but now I think she's trying to be the good girl very hard, so it's kind of artificial in my opinion. That's why I liked when Georgina appeared. But I also like Serena's interaction with Chuck. It's funny to see how much he annoys her, and I don't care about them being stepbrother/sister either.

But I really want them to explore a lot of possibilities too, and give people the chance to maybe like a couple they never expected to like :)

I think it's really cool that Serena's trying hard to make big changes in her life, but it does irritate me that we keep having to watch her "reformed girl falls into spot of trouble" thing over and over again.

And yeah, it would be truly awesome if the writers stepped outside the box and decided to give us some more Dair interactions. I just realized yesternight that they seriously have only spoken a handful of words to each other since Bad News Blair. Seeing as how they were both very close to Serena throughout the season, you'd think they'd have crossed paths more often! It's kinda strange that they'd have Dan tell Blair such a big secret about his mom running out, and then, pretty much never have them speak to one another again.

I sincerely did get the vibe from that scene that there was a friendship being established there. I can only hope the writers see how much chemistry was exhibited in that interaction and decide to capitalize on it in some way, be it friendship or romance.

Out of curiosity, have any of you envisioned the actual scenario in which you'd like to see Dan/Blair hook up. I'm not very creative so I haven't thought it out quite yet, but I'd really love for their to be a pull-push conflict where neither wants to like the other but can't help themselves. I certainly can't imagine they'd be gung ho about getting together since they both care about Serena and since they seem to think they're more different than they truly are. :P

I haven't exactly imagined the details of a possible hook-up. I like to imagine different situations. Like a more romantic scenario and then a more angsty one. I think it would be close to how you described it. They wouldn't want to like each other, and they'd keep denying their feelings for a long time. They'd both try to hang on to how they initially felt right when they met, until it gets to a point where they can't avoid it.

I'm really curious as to who would admit it first.

Whatever happens, I'd want neither character to change dramatically to suit the other person's personality. I like the characters as they are now, and Ithink they complement each other nicely. I hope we don't have to wait for the writers to get desperate before Dair comes along, otherwise I'm afraid the storyline will be horrible and made up of whatever first comes to the writing team's mind!

I agree, Kim. I don't want either of them to change. They are great characters as they are, and changing them to fit a relationship would be a big mistake. But I really think they don't have to change even a little bit to make it work. When you first look at them they seem really different, but looking closely they have a lot of similarities. I think they are the strongest of the teen characters, personality-wise. They both defend what they stand for and don't care much about other people's opinions. They're mostly comfortable with who they are (well not 100% of course because...which teen is, right? :lol: )

I also hope they don't use the Dair relationship as a last resort. It would suck and completely ruin the dynamic.

I love those moments too. I don't know how to explain it but every time I look at them I think something is going to happen. They're kind of an unlikely couple, but if we think about it, it happens a lot in real life for two people so different like them to fit together. I hope it's their case :lol:

I see Dan/Blair sort of as the new Rufus/Lily. Dan for obvious reasons. He's very similar to Rufus. And in my opinion Blair is much more similar to the young Lily as Serena is. From what we hear, Lily was pretty wild in a good way, and a bit annoying haha when she was younger. Serena isn't like that. At least not with Dan. She had a wild period, but her wild phase was made of drinking a lot and doing weird things.

So..I don't know. I see Rufus and Lily now, and see how their love lasted for so long. And I can't help but feel that Dan/Blair would be pretty much the same :)

Maybe something will happen between them. Dan is newly single, and the promo for next week looks like Blair/Serena will be in another fight. Maybe B will go out with Dan to get back at her.
