Did anyone see the commercials for this during Greek the other week? Its about a goodygoody teenager who gets pregnant in high school. Molly Ringwald plays the mother on this which I'm excited about. Pretty in Pink is probably my favorite movie!

I think the idea behind it is really interesting and the fact that it is on ABC Family is great because they have come out with some fabulous shows lately.

As the creator of the longest running family drama, Hampton brings an honest and relatable voice to the issues that teens and their parents face every day across America. Within the series, the family unit is represented in several forms – from the typical family of four – both functioning and dysfunctional – to a single parent home and a teen in foster care. Additionally, the teen viewpoint is also represented from a diverse group of characters.

But in every high school, there runs a common thread of self expression and discovery as every teen begins to make their own decisions. In the process, they will learn to face both the rewards and the consequences. This bold new drama tells the story of one American teenager and her journey though an unexpected pregnancy -- a journey that clearly affects everyone around her.

After returning home from summer band camp, Amy discovers that she is pregnant after having sex for the first time with Ricky, who is known school wide as a player. Afraid to tell her parents – or even accept the truth herself – she turns to her two best friends, Lauren and Madison, for support. In fact, her parents are so distracted with their own marital issues, as well as, dealing with Amy’s little sister, Ashley, who is the more rebellious of the sisters, they don’t even notice what is going on with Amy.

To complicate matters, Amy finds herself being pursued by Ben, a sweet guy who joins the band just to be near her and falls for Amy very quickly. But what will happen when he finds out the truth about Amy?

Meanwhile, Grace, the school’s most popular cheerleader, makes a promise to her Christian parents to uphold her commitment to abstinence. But her boyfriend, Jack, isn’t sure he will be able to wait, especially when she tells him she doesn’t want to get married until after medical school. Enter Adrian, the majorette, who is more than willing to help ease Jack’s tension, but Adrian’s true intention is to win over Ricky and he, of course, has his own agenda – and a troubled past.

Oh Yes! I saw that on the website that Brenda Hampton aka the creator of 7th Heaven is behind this series which really caught my eye. I loved 7th Heaven and all the "issues" they tackled. Combine that with the realistic take that ABC Family has been taking on similar issue and I think there is a great potential for an interesting show on important topics such as teen pregnancy.

i thought it was pretty good. and it was nice to see that they tried to talk about a lot of different issues.
although i think they perhaps should have waited for some of the different issues till like the next show. i think they tried a bit to hard.

I didn't intend to watch it but there was nothing else on so I had no other choice. It was pretty good. There were times when I cringed through some of the acting but overall it's a pretty good show that I'll watch again.

Is it weird that I got excited when I saw the actress (Renee Olstead) that played Lauren on Still Standing on the show?

i mean i get excited when i see actresses or actors i know on new shows
it's like wow i liked them in such-and-such show hopefully they are just as good in this one.

Well, I watched it, but I wasnt a huge fan of it. It was a little too stereotypical of it.

I didn't like the way the Christian girl was protrayed. I think those kind of portrayals are the reason when the Jonas Brothers talk about religion, I turn away. But thats just my opinion.

I totally see where your coming from. They stereotyped every character and they all had a "label" least I think so, nerdy, player, slutty, jock, that sorta thing.

I am going to continue to watch, I am hoping for more backgrounds on the character mainly Ricky. The promo for next week intrigued me too :P

Yeah, definitely. I'll probably continue to watch to see where they go, and how long Amy keeps the pregnancy from her parents. The preview did look enticing, so I'll tune in. haha

That was the first thing that came to me with Ben! I was like, um, is this Seth Cohen Jr? He could pass for the love child of Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts....or maybe Juno and Bleeker's baby....he's got that awkward geekiness down to a tee.


I'm hoping Amy kinda gets a bit more of a personality. I feel like she is lacking.

But I also wanna see how the whole late night band camp hookup went down...

Yeah, I mean, they advertise Molly Ringwald in the commercials, and she was barely in it. I want to see her more. And have 80's movies references. I'd love that.

I want to see Amy like, do something to make me enjoy her. She's just too vanilla. And her friends are annoying...haha. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah they had her everywhere and she barely got screen time..I am excited to see when she finds out about Amy though. Aw some classic 80's references would make the show so much better!

She is and she's plain..maybe she'll develop more character in the later episodes..I hope she does anyway. The one is so annoying..they need to try and make them..less :lol:

Yeah I know what you mean. They've put everyone into such stereotypes, and I'm really hoping they kinda break that and bend the character.

Like, Ricky and Grace. That could go either ways. Grace saves Ricky....or Ricky ruins Grace. lol

Yeah, her brother is pretty cute. I totally wasn't expecting that. Kinda reminded me of Tru Confessions.

I only got to barely watch it once....I had to record it, because my family came over, and my mom was like, no more...haha

okay so i pretty much really enjoyed the show a lot!
and i think that it will get better as it goes. sometimes the first episode can be really awkward and weird then BAM it's like the most amazing series ever.
so we shall see.
and i really like all the characters. except they did portray the Christian girl as like this crazy intense girl. and not all Christian girls are like that. and i hate that they had her as a blond cheerleader. like not all cheerleaders are blond. and not all Christians are blond cheerleaders. but oh well it can only get better (hopefully)

Ha, Trina, I'm just like you...I do kinda like Ricky, but I want to see more of his character. Like, make him seem really bad to everyone, and then like, connect with Amy. lol. Ben just seems like he was ripped from too much recent pop culture. I've found nothing original about him yet.

I think Ricky can have a lot of depth to him if they explore that more. Aw I would think this show is so much better if he and Amy connect on some level

I just want the show to get darker...I mean, Juno did teen pregnancy so light and funny...I want to see this show showing that it isn't just a funny moment in life.

I wonder if a) Amy will keep the baby or put it up for adoption and b) if she'll have an abortion..but I doubt that one.

Yeah show that it's not happy and whatnot, more drama about it would be better to see because it's something different than what's been done.

Yeah, they made a point to talk about it....I kinda wish they would show that. Degrassi is one of the only shows that ever showed it.

I know, the last scene were they were hugging in the hallway was really cute! it was definitely touching when her sister started crying because she acts so tough all the time..

And i think Adrian's parents definitely must neglect her and thats why she acts like that, i think shes an interesting character though and hopefully they'll show more of her family life..

I'm really looking forward to tonight!! I think something might happen with the doctor cause she's getting so persistent...Maybe she'll tell amys mom!

Yeah Ricky shirtless and Adrian shirtless... hot. Althought it wasn't the best episode, it felt too rushed.. Like they tried to put so much stuff together and then it just ended.. :/ Like Amy/Ben went out the door and it ended I as like wtf! I can't wait for next episdoe though. Hopefully someone else finds out about Amy!
