Thanks for the new thread, Shary. Love the title, and it's great to have more of the Townwood family around again. And we're getting closer and closer to 400!!

Townwood love was totally out of the ordinary and that's part of what made it so special. It was something really different and the show needed a kick-start like that.

Taylor and Ryan complemented and balanced each other perfectly. It wasn't teenage infatuation. It was a proper, loving and mutually supportive relationship.

FOX is no good killing off a show like the OC! It held very high class all the way through (ignoring certain parts of season 3 here...) and season 4 with Taylor in the spotlight really brought something different and unique to the world of TV series. It was a fresh start! Too bad it never really got to go anywhere :/

That was a great line from Taylor and I loved Ryan's reaction. He knew she was insecure about being divorced and he knew he was the one who needed to make amends by making the first move. I loved all the Seth/Taylor interraction when she was trying to date Ryan. Autumn and Adam had good chemistry, but not quite as good as Ben and Autumn :)

I think Seth started to come around to the idea when he realised Taylor had overheard him and Ryan at the Yacht Club. Both of them knew they'd upset her and I think it was then that they both started to see her as a real person with feelings rather than just eccentric, weird Taylor. Seth encouraged her not to quit and to take the tea to Ryan. And Ryan was completely overcome by the kiss.

Even Ryan knew early on that Taylor was good for him, even if it took a while for him to come to terms with it :)

Once Ryan decided to accept his feelings he fell very strongly for her. I think their relationship was built on a very strong foundation because they both understood, accepted, appreciated and wanted the very best for each other. Taylor was OTT some of the time, but she was never needy. She was a very strong and aware person, and she helped Ryan to open up and reach his own potential.

I love how the other characters knew Taylor was good for Ryan, and went out of their way to support them. I think they all realised that Taylor had a lot of very positive traits which had been missing to various degrees in Ryan's earlier relationships.

I am sure she did. Especially after Summer was so excited about Ryan buying the bear. Summer had a cute face after Taylor left to go and get the bear out of the trashcan. Ryan also had a funny face when HM spotted the bear. I am glad HM saved the bear for her with his good bye letter.

Even though at the poem reading Ryan couldn't say the ILY yet, HM knew he would soon. He knew Taylor never loved him and saw how much she loved Ryan. I was so glad he left after the poem reading.

I'm glad he left then. That's one good thing about the short season - if it had been full-length, Josh might have turned HM into Johnny 2.

HM definitely realised that Taylor liked him and was fond of him, but that anything else had just been infatuation on her part. He knew that her feelings for Ryan were different and on a much deeper level.

The Townwood chemistry was amazing right from the start and stayed amazing throughout. That's why Josh put them together and kept them together.

And the teary eyed wedding glances he gave us in the finale, meant they we're next! Josh wanted them together in the end too.

Yes, Josh wanted them together. The only reason he made their ending ambiguous was because he didn't want to upset the RM fans. Josh was such a Townwood shipper, but he was pretty clever in how he wrote the finale. There was a lot of Townwood stuff that he knew the shippers would totally *get* the significance of. It was important that Taylor was the very last main character to share a scene with Ryan with those wedding glances, before it switched to the very end with him and the kid.

Exactly. Josh was a Townwood shipper. He knew we would all know what he was thinking with the last episode. There was a lot of great Townwood moments in that episode. The bedroom scene, the train scene, the wedding glances. Plus Ryan and Seth's conversation as well as Taylor and Summer's. They were still in love with one another.

Ryan so brought that kid home to his wife, Taylor.

I could imagine him doing that, Veronica finding out, and Taylor having a serious argument with her mother about it. Sandy and Kirsten would have been totally cool with it, and I am sure that Frank and Julie would have been too.

It's such a shame the show ended when it did. I think there would have been so much potential for a S5 to start off with Ryan and the kid. I would have really enjoyed seeing how Josh would work a new story round all the different family set-ups - Seth/Summer/Pancakes, Ryan/Taylor/the kid/Flapjacks, Frank/Julie/their son/Kaitlin/Bullitt, and Sandy/Kirsten/Sophie.

There was a lot of potential for a S5 with all of those pairings. They could also have done something like they did on OTH and skipped ahead 4 years and had Taylor coming back from France and Ryan graduating Berkeley. Seth would be done too and Summer would be finishing up. I wasn't sure how it would work with OTH, but I really enjoyed S5. They could have done flashbacks to shown everyone at college and how they stayed together and things that happened. S/S could be engaged etc...

Maybe there will be some kind of "Return To The OC" show in the future, like the CW's new 90210.

It would be awesome if that happened and Ben and Autumn agreed to recreate Townwood, even if it was only for the pilot episode.

I do love both those stills and I shall forever be annoyed that we never got that second dancing scene. I wish we could have seen that and heard their conversation, especially as it was right after Ryan had stalked Taylor. I am sure it was cheeky and flirty.

It does look like a proposal. So sweet him taking both her hands like that. They were so into one another. It was ashame Ryan was an idiot at her party though and was listening to Seth and everyone tease him about his romantic gift. You could tell Ryan felt bad about giving it to Taylor, especially since he had such an awesome present for her.

At least Ryan went to make amends with Taylor that same evening and to give her the proper gift. The *old* Ryan would have sat in the poolhouse, brooding. I am glad that Taylor made him more outgoing and expressive, and more willing to deal with situations as they arose, rather than let them develop into problems which he often did before.

ITA. Old Ryan would have just went and brooded about it. Instead he went to talk to her and tell her loved her again and he didn't want to loose her. He gave her the awesome book of poems and she was so funny with her "Ryan are you sure this is from you?" I think she realized then how much he had opened up being with her also.

The Summer Bummer was on Soapnet yesterday. 7, 10 minutes in heaven. Ryan couldn't get enough of Taylor. I love the way that episode started with Ryan's fantasies.
