Has anyone else seen the previews for this show on HBO it looks like it could be very unique and entertaining. Alan Ball says he plans to set it apart by taking away the elegance and classical music and using a more brass, rough-and-tumble style. Which adds something new and fresh to a rapidly growing genre. Plus I love Anna Paquin! I can't wait to watch!

HBO's...
About the Show
Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.
Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. "Cursed" with the ability to listen in on people's thoughts, she's also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill's arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.
A sexy, scary new drama from 'Six Feet Under' creator Alan Ball, 'True Blood' delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris. Described by the Emmy®-winning Ball as "popcorn for smart people" and featuring a colorful cast of local misfits, 'True Blood' promises an intense ride.

See I love it for all the reasons it's unique. Since vampires have "come out of the coffin", they can openly use thier powers.
Alan Ball says...
HBO: With all the vampire films and shows that have been made, how have you set 'True Blood' apart?
Alan Ball: There's a lot of gray area; the vampires are just like humans. Nobody's a hundred percent good, nobody's a hundred percent bad. There's also the aspect that an entire subculture springs up around the vampires. There are people who are called ''fang bangers'' who basically just want to hook up with vampires because apparently sex with vampires is really good. Vampire blood is kind of the hot black-market drug. If you ingest vampire blood, it's like a combination of ecstasy and Viagra — it gives you incredible strength. But it's also incredibly dangerous and incredibly addictive. Plus the fact that it's a vampire show that's taking place in such a mundane location. It's not New Orleans; it's not Anne Rice. One of my rules is: I don't ever want to hear opera music in the show, ever. We're staying away from the Baroque things. We're staying away from the standard, supernatural blue light. We're staying away from vampires having strange contact lenses. We're staying away from any sort of special effects that become the focus. I just want to give my actors fangs and let them act. What is it like to be immortal, to have lost everybody you love? To yearn for your humanity?
I'm especially interested in the "fang-bangers" vs the FOtS

Fans List is up
So what did everyone think?
Honestly I thought it was a little too graphic at the very beginning. It took me awhile to get into it, but when Bill and Sookie came on screen. WoW. And Let me just say that I love Sookie Stackhouse.

okay so this week has been really crazy for me so I havent been able to get on lately. Better late than never...
I loved the "I'm his" moment! Definitely a double meaning. Idk why she got so angry last time. I would love to be Bill's
We'll defintiely be seeing more of Eric and his lover. He's supposedly somwhere between 900-1038 years old!
Did anyone else find Bill scaring that cop totally sexy?

add me add me add me! :)
My new favorite obsession!
First of all, BILL IS SEX. omg I drool everytime I see him. What is it about vampires that brood? They are so effing SEXY.
Sookie + Bill all teh way.
Also, I just started reading Dead After Dark.. it's amazing.
I love Alan Ball, and all his work. Very graphic as Laura mentioned, and total ON POINT.
The beginning scene in "Mine" (Epi 3) totally grabbed me. I watched the first three in a row, and whenever I saw Bill in that beginning part..
"Sookie is MINE."
...chills...

:wave:You've been added
Totally agree with you on the Bill is sexy part. There's just something about dark hair and blue eyes that i find so attractive. Bill/Sookie is :inlove:.
I've never read the books. Is it true that they've followed them pretty much to a T?
I'm so excited for next week's episode! It looked like Bill was protecting Sookie from someone...Sam?
I didn't get to see the first 15 minutes of last night's episode. Can anyone tell me what happened?

^^ glad to see your a fan!
Santana, the first 15 minutes basically consisted of Bill and Sookie arriving at her house after the incident with the cop and they sort of get into a fight. She explains that as a human, she doesn't understand why he should have the right to "glamour" people into doing what they want them to do.. this time to get out of the law, or for sex, to get blood.
She asks if she wasnt there, would he feed off him? He didnt give her a straight answer.
It blows out of proportion, and Bill says "he will not call on her again" ..
Then, it shows Jason going to Lafayette's house to complain about the "V".. he shows Jason how to "do it right".. Jason does V again, and this time, he truly feels the effect.
The show goes right along with the books. Most of the dialogue is the same, which surprises me. I believe the scene in the second episode where Sookie and Bill are in the forest after she gets attacked is almost word for word to that part of the book. Most of the Sookie/Bill scenes are exact.
The only difference is some characters (ex, Tara) are not in the book or do not play as large as role as they do on the show.
add me add me add me! :)
First of all, BILL IS SEX. omg
haha I second that. I love this show :) It's like twilight but smutty. haha :)

Emma- you were added. Were you seconding that also?
Panda- thanx for the recap!
Well I assumed something had happened with Bill when she went to the DLD event with Sam. I hope she doesn't keep breaking up with him every other ep. Jason high was...something else.

Jason needs to have some sense smacked into him - preferably by Tara! I would give anything to see that girl give him one :)

I havent read the books but I wouldnt mind some Eric/Sooke. Just later on, when she's not with Bill. But what happens to Pam?
I loved the scene where Bill like speeds in to save Sookie from her bad dream and Tara and Lafayette are like WTF? Then he's in there comforting Sookie (and himself)and they're being all adorable with kind of cuddling thing they've got going while she falls back to sleep.
They're sex scene was drool worthy also, but now whoever tried to kill Sookie before is going to go after her harder.

10-20-2008, 11:32 PM
:naughty:...and I didn't think the sex scene could get any better!
The bath tub scene made my heart melt and Sookie thought it was perfect and Bill was so sweet:love:
Then everyone at the diner could totally tell! Hahaha.
And I was just wondering how Bill knows when Sookie is in trouble? Is it a vampire thing or just an in love thing? Is it explained in the books?

Do you remember in the second episode when Bill saved Sookie from those two vampire drainers? He gave her is blood to drink..
With his blood inside of her, he can feel when she's in trouble..
The quote is actually in my sig, haha. :)

Ok... this show is just... just... sex. Thats all this show is. I don't have HBO, but I think I have taken up a permanent residance at my friends house to watch it. :p I have read the first three books so far and I loved them. BTW I just loved the way that Bill took out the uncle.

Didn't really like this one...
The whole sex thing at the beginning was really random. I could understand feeding and all b/c he'd probably been in the ground for awhile. But the rest was just odd. Idk maybe they found the dirt and mudd to be a turn on?
Although Bill playing with the kids was really adorable but even that's bitter sweet since they can't have kids.
I did like seeing Eric again;) And how he just took Sookie's word for it

I love True Blood!
It's an adult version of Twilight! (It's obviously not as good as Twilight though, nothing really compares to that.Haha)
The only thing that bothered me is how Bill isn't really romantic with Sookie anymore. Now he just seems like a horny vampire to me. :/
I want her to become a vampire and them be together!
He's totally sexy!

Twilight is better.
True Blood is reallyyy good though.
What do you think of that hippie chick with Jason now?
Total junkie that is going to **** up his life! You'll see.
I felt bad for that vampire they kidnapped!

Is it just me or is PAM seriously just kickass? I of course am worshipping her in a non-lesbian capacity! She just reminds me of Angelina Jolie.
And Eric...gah, I do love this tv show.

I felt really upset by the vampire in the basement. I really hope they don't "kill" him. He's such a sympathetic charactor.
Also, I was sure Sam was a werewolf when I saw him running through the woods. He's a DOG?!
Can't wait 'til next week!

I thought the same thing about Sam(werewolf)but a dog? I kept telling my husband there was something up with him. Epically with Bill when ever he couldn't be with Shookie and needed her protected he always went to Sam.

Well I kind of already knew through spoilers and book readers on other sites. And technically he's a shape shifter.
So Panda- if they put the silver chains around Bill's neck, would that sever his head after five years?

Panda
11-13-2008, 10:32 AM
Yeah, they are pretty much following the book.
although, two episodes ago, I will say, I was nun too pleased. They changed a BIG part of the storyline in my opinion.
We are almost there, I promise! The first book is closing in... ;)

Eric kills Long Shadow... not Bill, there was no trial and all that nonsense..
Its a huge deal, too, because it shows a BIG difference in Eric's character..
To answer your question, I'm not quite sure because that wasnt in the books. I'm sure he'd be severely damaged though, if still alive...

Panda- Did Eric kill LongShadow for Sookie or because he stole from him?
I'm actually pretty up and down with this episode. Loved the interaction between Eric/Bill/Baby Vamp. It was just hilarious and it showed how Sire's really are like parents. Something I've always looked forward to finding out more about.
On the other hand, if your going to make Sookie kiss someone who's not Bill it had better be Eric. Even though I've never read the books I'm really looking forward to some E/S.
