My favorites go HBP, DH, GoF, CoS, OotP, PS, PoA. The first three are really quite tied. I love HBP, GoF, and DH pretty equally.

Yeah, let's elope and get married. Seriously though, I'm surprised some people hate HBP and find OotP to be the best book. Whaaat? And PoA is pretty popular too, which is nice, but the books got so much more eventful, relevant and continuous after GoF. I can't compare the PoA plot to HBP, for example, so much more happens in HBP!!!

I like HBP better cause it's just so interesting, with all the horcruxes and everything....It was the first book where I was like "oooohhh....I GET it now....Voldie's never known love and he's tearing his soul apart! it all makes sense now!"
Not to mention it's the one where all the good romances start up. :)

HBP has amazing plot stuff, but there is something about POA I absolutely adore. Learning about the Marauders for the first time, the beginning with Marge is a classic, the by far the best Quidditch parts, the time turner...ahhh!! I adore POA.
I had a hard time choosing if GOF or HBP was higher on my list... I decided on GOF cause I read the climax of that one a teeny bit more.
I did enjoy reading COS more than I did OOTP, but I find during that long-ass book it has better single moments (Snape's worst memory, "give her hell, peeves, etc),so I put it a spot higher.

There's definitely parts of OotP that I kinda fall asleep during...and I don't know what it is about PoA...but I've never found that one all that entertaining. Sometimes when I read the books, I kinda just start with the fourth one and go from there. It's how I first started the books, actually. GoF was the first one I ever read.

, Bella I remember we did this before and you and I were the only one's who liked OOTP.
Mine is like DH/OOTP OOTP due to all the DA and kid!power stuff, DH because it was epic and the end and everything worked out and totally exciting. Followed by hmm...probably SS cause it's the first one and then HBP/GOF cause of all the romance. And then POA. Which I never loved. But do like all the flashback stuff. And COS last because it doesn't stand out, though I still love it. Aw poor COS is unloved.

haha really I don't remember Beth  I do know I was one of few who liked OOTP but glad to know I'm not alone.

I liked OOTP, I would just never put it high on my list. Too long and too much Umbridge.

I like the rebellious teen stuff as well. Plus it's the first real dark book that shows how the series has changed. However I could do without some of Umbridge and Harry's angst.

 I know Cilla it's so hard!
I actually even liked the Harry angst because it showed he was human. And I liked Umbridge because it incited the rebellious teen stuff. My favorite part in any HP book ever continues to be Career Advice...and into the next chapter I forget what it's called where McGonnagal tells Umbridge off and helps unscrew the chandelier and Lee Jordan puts Nifflers in her office and all sorts of students do all sorts of things.

Yeah, I did like the DA stuff in OotP, a lot. but the part BEFORE they get to Hogwarts is too long, imo.
and the Umbridge rebellion is just too good.

Actually the Harry angst is one of my favorite parts of OOTP! With everything he went through, Harry was bound to crack, and I am glad that he did.
I am still so mad at the OOTP movie for not showing the amazing office part with Dumbledore. :(

Exactly, before that he seemed so perfect. That showed he was real.
I know! Just saw the OOTP movie and they left out a lot. But I'm madder about the QUIDDITCH and Weasley is Our King and Fred/George/Harry/Draco fight.

Well I was annoyed by him yelling at Ron and Hermione sometimes. Otherwise I thought the angst was due for, after Cedric. I'm sad they left out the destroying Dumby's office scene too.

YAY!!! someone who loves POA like me!!!!
I was kinda upset when Harry was yelling at Ron and Hermione too, (Though the first time was kinda called for in my opinion), but after JKR explained that he thinks of Ron and Hermione as his family and it's so true that you seem to take our your anger on the people you love most.

That's very true.
I need to reread POA. I read it when I was really young and I didn't get it at all, in subsequent reads I understood it but I still don't think I was old enough to really get all the flashback stuff, which may be the reason for it never stood out to me. If only I could just read HP books all day. :)

On really slow days at work...I can read HP all day. and get paid for it. But it's still really busy right now. :(
I need to read OotP again. It's been too long since I had a good laugh over Umbridge.
