What episode was it? SpongeBob has been on tv for YEARS! Like any show, the early seasons are better. But he still has great moments. I am an adult, a teacher who was forced to watch. I avoided him because he looked weird to me but after watching a few classic episodes, I was HOOKED:
The Fry Cook Olympic Games- Spongey & Pat compete against each other
Sailor Mouth- where SpongeBob & Patrick learn to curse
The Hall Monitor-SpongeBob is mistaken for a crazed square shaped nut, WAIT!- he is....
Krab's Mattress-Sponge, Pat & Squidward retrieve Mr. Krab's money mattress from an angry junkyard worm
SpongeBob & Patrick adopt a baby clam- Bob dresses in drag- the infamous homosexual episode!!!!
SpongeBob & Sandy fight the Giant Alaskan Bullworm
The Camping Epsiode-Bob, Pat & Squid go camping and get attacked by a SeaBear...Good Lord!!!!
The characters are classic. The main character is innocent, sweet, stupid but he has some kind of magical power that allows him to come out on top, usually
THe stories are funny, crazy, wacky, with little redeeming value except trumpeting friendship and embracing your freak flag because SpongeBob is the ultimate lovable freak!!!
The show is much better than some other junk that my kids, thankfully, don't even consider watching.
So, I advise watching another episode, possibly Netflixing some choice oldies and having a nice laugh. I've learned silly songs and actually used some choice freaky quotes from the show to confuse & intrigue my adult friends. SpongeBob SquarePants has some wonderful life lessons to impart and he will definitely help to reduce stress. :bounce:

The whole "Is SpongeBob Gay?" controversy is kinda old. Thank Heavens... :applause:
Actually, what's wrong with SpongeBob being gay? :idea:As a cartoon character, he's allowed to get a bit different, wouldn't you say. So he's effeminate at times. Bugs Bunny LOVED to run around in full drag queen regalia and he and Elmer were often showed smooching. :mo:
SpongeBob is portrayed as honest, loyal, faithful, brave (sometimes), funny, loving and giving. Adding gay to that wouldn't bother me at all. :shrugs:
Many of the kids in my classroom have same sex parents, so I don't think seeing a gender confused/ambiguous cartoon character freaks them out. Ultimately, it's a cartoon character. Lighten up! :hippy:
The new editions of Speedracer & Spiderman that came out this year? :crying: Now those should have you worried about the quality of animated entertainment being sold to our youth & us for that matter. Just show me a rerun from the 60s instead! Spongebob is WAY better than a lot of new stuff today.
