I've had this book lent to me by a friend stating that it's a good novel. I'm half-way through and I'm not really enjoying it. Does the last half of the book get better? Anyone?

Also - I'd have to see the musical because I'm wondering how they put this on stage???

No the last half doesn't improve. I kept hoping, but it didn't get any better.

Yeah - finished it the other night. Not the best read IMHO. I don't think that I'll get any of his other novels. A few parts I felt were over my head, but I battled on.

If you want a smart, funny easy read about witches, try Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters. It is such an easy read that the "smart" part can almost slip by you.

I read Wicked and enjoyed it. It had a lot to do with politics and religions. I really did enjoy it and refer it to many of my friends, even lend it out. I have Son of a Witch and have started it but got lost in another book. Recently I bought A lion among men (the cowardly lions point of view) Cant read it till im dont Son of a witch.

Yes... i will agree it is a slow start, but it builds alot of Elphabas back story, that is necissary. Look at the Wizard of oz, they do it in the movie right at the beginning when Dorthy and Toto are in Kansas...

its weird i liked it but i didnt at the same time, i think it was a really interesting book but at times i just didnt care what was happening to the characters

not seen the musical but think its safe to say the book is a lot darker

Oh by far the book is a lot darker. Its darker then The Wizard of Oz, its even darker then most of the Harry Potter books I would say. Its deffinately for a more mature audience.

yeah definately, i think a lot of people who see the musical first are surprised when they read that book
