I'm reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer as a promise I made ages ago to make it through it.

The Host is well written. While I was reading it, I was very interested in it. But after the story was finished, I found that I didn't like it, exactly. I think the author has a thing for love triangles or something. And while this is "Different", it just seemed too much the same for me.
I don't want to give out ANY spoilers, which is why my answer was a bit cryptic. |

Currently reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke and Grave Secrets by Kathy Reichs. I prefer reading about "Bones" than watching the TV series these days, although I do miss Booth.

Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously by Julie Powell.
I have to say I was very disappointed in this book. The movie clips I've seen has more about Julia Child in them than the entire book. I thought the idea was awesome! But the book delievery fell flat. I didn't like the author, her husband or any of her friends. In the beginning she writes that while some of what is in the book happens, she makes up things to move it along. Now, I do understand with the Child part that she might have taken liberties (and did them well), her own life was just boring. And it does look like she tried to spice it up a bit. All in all, not a good read. Because of the clips, I will end up renting the movie. I think the Julia parts are very endearing. |
