It's a great show, which I already have on DVD. I saw the new "remastered" release at the store, but I haven't figured out what's different about it. I wonder if the "remastering" makes a really big difference in the quality of the video and/or audio?

According to an article I read there will be a lot of new features. John Cleese has recorded brand new commentaries for every single episode. There are also new interviews from when the cast got together last spring, including the first time Cleese's co-writer and former wife, Connie Booth (Polly Sherman), has spoken on record about the series.

Wow, I would love to hear those commentaries. Unfortunately, I don't look like any of the characters to enter the Facebook contest. Although sometimes I think I have an ingrown toenail, like Sybil.

If you don't look like a character, get creative!

![]() I'm helping the BBC spread the word about Fawtly Towers and their 'lookalike' contest, and it's great to find people already talking about it. The box set has completely new commentaries by John Cleese which are fascinating to listen too. He basically breaks down the science of a comedy scene. In regards to the contest, there aren't that many entries so you stand a really good chance of winning signed stuff from John Cleese (including the DVD set). You don't necessarily need to look like a character; does your dog or a wall stain resemble anything from Fawlty Towers? John Cleese is going to pick the winners, so I'm guessing he is just going to pick whoever makes him laugh the most! The direct link is this - Fawlty Towers Contests | Facebook - good luck! |

I still get huge laughs out of it, and I think that most of the situations do hold up. Of course, the episode with the Germans might not make sense to kids growing up now who have no memory of WWII. Not that I have a memory of WWII, but that was my grandfather's generation, and I remember my mom talking about the German family they knew and the kids were kind of embarrassed to be heard speaking German because of the anti-German sentiment during and after the war. Situations like Basil picking up the wrong platter and delivering a plate of bones to the waiting guests, stuff like that never gets old. I don't think.
